Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel fully syntetic VS Mobil 1 15w-40 delvac 1300 - W116Lorinser - 02-09-2011 What are the Pros and Cons of each oil... and which one is better in the om617 or any diesel engine.? i currently was using mobil 1 delvac 15w-40 1300 non syntetic and today i needed a oil change so i changed to the mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel full syntetic formula since it should be better in every category over the delvac 1300. i know we have been over this 100000 times and 100000 threads but hopefully this will be the last oil thread RE: Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel fully syntetic VS Mobil 1 15w-40 delvac 1300 - mcneil - 02-09-2011 Leave a jug of each outside overnight, then try to pour it. When I was in NY, I would run synthetic Rotella 5W-40 to improve cold starts. The engine spins faster when cold, builds oil pressure faster, and idles smoother. One thing I never did and wish I had - record the time to build oil pressure from the instant the starter engages with 5W-40 and 15W-40. If you get a chance, I think it'd be interesting data to have. RE: Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel fully syntetic VS Mobil 1 15w-40 delvac 1300 - W116Lorinser - 02-10-2011 let me tell you it is a night a day difference i dont know why i didnt which over to the 5w-40 sythentic earlier. it solved my stall problem, the car performs, starts and sound much better. very weird lol RE: Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel fully syntetic VS Mobil 1 15w-40 delvac 1300 - mcneil - 02-11-2011 (02-10-2011, 12:01 AM)W116Lorinser let me tell you it is a night a day difference i dont know why i didnt which over to the 5w-40 sythentic earlier. Seriously, I hear you. I remember trying to top off my 300SD with a jug of 15W-40 that had been in the trunk over night when it got to -2F. It was like trying to pour honey. I had to get a plastic knife to get it out of the jug. Made me really glad I had the block heater going all night.. |
