617.912 engine oil pump - Lapoint - 11-17-2008
Do all the 617.912 engines have a shaft driven oil pump as opposed to the chain driven pump on the 617.95X engines? The engine I looked at was missing it's lower oil pan and pump. When I examined its innards I realized that there was no sprocket on the crank to drive the oil pump. It appears that it was shaft driven.

Yes. 616 and 617.91x are shaft, 617.95x are chain.
