wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - larsalan - 02-23-2011 My blower is crapping out. Thank goodness it's starting to warm up outdoors. I have searched for the part online and it seems super expensive. Like ~$300 I'll get to pulling the old one out one of these days. If you have one that might fit maybe we can make a deal. RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - winmutt - 02-24-2011 Be careful, more than one fire has started from faulty blowers. RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - larsalan - 02-25-2011 update, the motor works fine if it's upside down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf0UEhL8QUc sorry video is upside down too. Looks like the plastic fan is dragging. Disassembled the motor sanded off brushes and it still seams like there is no way to keep that plastic from dragging. Now, have pulled it off the shaft. Adding some layers of spray paint to the shaft and respective hub to get a tighter fit. RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - larsalan - 02-25-2011 Think it is kludged back to life for now. Here is some of the old dust and metal I blew out of the motor. RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - winmutt - 02-28-2011 Wrong pic? RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - larsalan - 02-28-2011 No, that's the right pic. Of the nasty stuff that sticks to you when you blow into a 30 yr old electric motor. I thought I look kinda funny RE: wtb (cheaply) hvac blower w123 - winmutt - 02-28-2011 Having worked on computers for almost 20 years, my face has been like that a few times |
