how do I... - larsalan - 05-05-2011 Ok, so here is where I'll put the questions I have about how to dismantle the om617. I have got all the head bolts broken loose and mostly out. part of the rocker assembly came loose. What do I got to do next to get this head off? Then what should I be doing next. People have expressed interest in having the pistons and valves. Need to get that chain of the camshaft some way, right? RE: how do I... - willbhere4u - 05-05-2011 undo the bolt on the front of the cam and take the gear out it's that simple! RE: how do I... - larsalan - 05-05-2011 then does the camshaft slide forward and back? There is a 13mm nut holding that rocker arm assembly on there and I can't get at it. RE: how do I... - willbhere4u - 05-05-2011 The cam and cam towers should lift off as an assembly once you get the chain off RE: how do I... - Biohazard - 05-07-2011 Use a long extension through the cam gear to help hold it in place when breaking the cam bolt loose. Once the gear/chain is loose, you can rotate the cam to help remove the rocker assy. The back section is the harder one to remove. If you tighten all the valve adjustment nuts down it gives you a bit more clearance. With the rocker arms out of the way, the cam and towers come out as an assembly; the cam slides out to the rear. Hope that helps! RE: how do I... - larsalan - 05-07-2011 I got the cam shaft and towers off. My next question is about these hex bolts. http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/thread-head-bolts trying to get the head up. |
