om603 idea. - Ducos - 06-06-2011 Hi. What do you guys think of an om603 turbo. with N/A air intake? and use the airfilterbox as a connector to the pressure pipes? just cut out the "filter" of the filter, and use the orange square as a gasket? Has this been done before? RE: om603 idea. - Kozuka - 06-06-2011 It would work if you could find one.. Here in the USA, I've never seen one. Example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxepyHojLnI RE: om603 idea. - erling66 - 06-06-2011 I am quite sure the airfilter box will not hold much pressure, maybe max 7 psi. I tried on a gasoline engine and it blew up around 10 psi and that box looked strong. RE: om603 idea. - Syncro_G - 06-06-2011 You definitely want to keep the pressure tubes small. The force needed to keep two parts together is proportional to the cross-sectional area at the joint. That means 636lbs of force to hold a 9" pan together at 10psi boost compared to 70lbs force for a 3" tube at the same pressure RE: om603 idea. - Ducos - 06-07-2011 (06-06-2011, 01:44 PM)Kozuka It would work if you could find one.. Here in norway its hard to not trip into one.. hehe. the om603 turbo is much much harder to find Im using 2.5 pipes and 2.5 - 2.25" reducer into my intercooler, den 2.25 to 2.5 again, since the HX35 is 2.5" out i guess. (correct me if im wrong) And suddenly thought of the N/A airfilterbox, I think its adiquate. Whats the next best thing to do with the original intake on the turbodiesel? RE: om603 idea. - Kozuka - 06-07-2011 Most cut a notch in the driver side and weld on a pipe Or there is the full custom option... |
