Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Greazzer - 07-23-2011 I got a Hood & Trunk Lid from 1979 300SD W116. They are aluminum, light, no dents or scratches, but the clear coat is popping off. I thought they would fit my 1985 300D. It doesn't look like it. Would like to sell before I take them to either the scrap yard or back to P-a-P, or maybe a dryrun to see if they would fit a W123. It will shed at least 50 pounds, thus gaining almost 5 HP -- assuming the rule of thumb is really accurate. Here are some pictures. Can send more pictures for serious buyers. RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - garage - 07-24-2011 I think it would be pretty difficult to make those fit on a w123. Definetly worth it for a w116 though, any way to shave weight on these tanks is a benefit. RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Raptelan - 11-05-2011 Still got them? I might be interested in at least the hood. RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Greazzer - 11-06-2011 Howdy, The hood sold a long time ago. I still have the trunk lid, however. I had another set of hood and trunk lid (light blue) but that is gone also. Just left with one aluminum trunk lid if your interested. $75.00 plus shipping. RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Raptelan - 11-06-2011 (11-06-2011, 09:23 AM)Greazzer Just left with one aluminum trunk lid if your interested. $75.00 plus shipping. I don't think I need the trunk lid, unfortunately. I've got two W116's - a 450SE and 300SD. The 300SD got hit in the front so it needs a new hood only (already has aluminum trunk lid). The 450SE (like the 280) came with steel versions, and is known to benefit from switching to aluminum ones. There's one of each in a local junkyard, but I'd like to find another hood at some point. Thanks for replying though, and best wishes! It's definitely worth going to somebody to replace their steel one - these aluminum ones should never be junked! RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Greazzer - 01-02-2012 The trunk lid is reduced to $50.00 plus whatever shipping is. Need to move this before it ends up damaged. At least it wont rust !! RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Greazzer - 04-11-2012 Trunk Lid is getting ready to make some fine beverage cans. So, any takers at $40.00 plus shipping ? I think I can get about $20 or so for scrap. Let me know. Thanks. RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Simpler=Better - 04-11-2012 Please don't scrap it-it needs to go on a car! RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Raptelan - 04-11-2012 (04-11-2012, 09:11 PM)Greazzer Trunk Lid is getting ready to make some fine beverage cans. So, any takers at $40.00 plus shipping ? I think I can get about $20 or so for scrap. Let me know. Thanks. I knew I'd responded to this somewhere before...as posted elsewhere, I'll take it! Turns out both my 300SD's have steel trunk lids, along with the 450's... RE: Aluminum Hood & Trunk Lid - Greazzer - 04-12-2012 OK -- Send me your email in a PM. I will take some more pictures and find out the Greyhound rates. And yes, it is aluminum. |
