Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-02-2011 Hai guys! I have a few questions regarding the OM605. Ive been wanting to make a speedy one for some time. There are ample C250TD's over here in the UK - some really nice ones too. Im not interested in a E300 as they are all auto and i dont want the hassle of doing an manual conversion. Basically, whats the route for these in terms of more power? Manual injection pump? Big turbo? Stronger clutch? 3'' exhaust? Anyone know roughly how much this stuff will cost? Any help appreciated! Cheers! I currently drive a 97' Volvo 940 2.3 Turbo petrol. To get around 300 bhp isnt too hard but after that your looking at forged rods etc. Also the MPG is pretty shocking i get around 70 miles to £20..... and the clutch is going RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-03-2011 No one? RE: Om605 info required! - aaa - 08-03-2011 Intercooler. And you'll probably spend £3k. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-03-2011 (08-03-2011, 03:48 PM)aaa Intercooler. And that forgot that idea! Really 3k? I thought it would have been ALOT cheaper? how much are the myna pumps? RE: Om605 info required! - cleetus - 08-03-2011 AAA is £3k a tad over pricey (yes if everything is brand new and a Myna pump)????? So far i have spent around £100, granted i dont have a holset hx or huge garrett (aprrox £2-300), but i have been carefull on what i have chose as im not aiming for huge power (yet) I bought a big intercooler (3" outlets, 76mm deep and quite wide and tall) 3 gauges and pod Boost controller A kkk k27-2 turbo (off a mercedes commercial big diesel) All the stainless for the exhaust and boost pipes I'm trying to decided if need to go for bigger elements as i the turbo wont push as much air as the holset (yet, again) Jeemu has had excellent results and has been at it a while with both manual and electric pumps. Mantahead has also had very good results and is running an electric pump as per both you and me It seems were you can spend the big money is the pump and elements and once again mantahead has shown that you can get a remap and still get very good results with a modified intake, modified exhaust, elements and a remap (not sure of how much he has spent though). There are quite a few examples on line but mainly seem to have a manual pump cleetus RE: Om605 info required! - dcm - 08-03-2011 Do you plan on using it as a daily driver? Around 200bhp can be achieved easily enough. Mantahead is running over 300bhp with the electronic pump, there are some videos if you check his threads. Are you planning on over 300bhp? RE: Om605 info required! - aaa - 08-03-2011 The Myna pumps go for 1000 euros. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-03-2011 Id like to hit at least 300 bhp yeah. The car in question is a 90's C250TD (OM605) Can these be converted to run on manual injection pumps? Basically im thinking: Big intercooler and piping Holset HX40 or similar Myna manual pump 3'' exhaust Is there any other niggly little bits that need to be done?? I also have a very tasty forge unos MBC on my volvo - i presume i could use this on the merc?? As for gauges: boost and wideband? RE: Om605 info required! - aaa - 08-03-2011 Wideband? Don't see how useful that'd be. How about an EGT gauge. I'd say you're all set otherwise. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-04-2011 (08-03-2011, 06:19 PM)aaa Wideband? Don't see how useful that'd be. How about an EGT gauge. Oh yeah im still thinking petrol lmao. What is required to make one run on a manual injection pump?? Also will the 5 speed manual hold the power? What clutch options are there? RE: Om605 info required! - dcm - 08-04-2011 You need to get hold of an OM602 pump and fit larger elements if you want to convert it to a manual pump. Have you bought a C250TD? Have a look at this thread, LINK. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-04-2011 (08-04-2011, 10:38 AM)dcm You need to get hold of an OM602 pump and fit larger elements if you want to convert it to a manual pump. Have you bought a C250TD? Ty for the info :p No i havent brought a merc yet. I still have the volvo. But it needs a £260 clutch and £350 flywheel. Thats just to sort the slipping clutch. I upped the boost on the stock clutch and it lasted around a month before it started to slip. So im thinking of returning the clutch and flywheel selling the volvo and buying a C250TD And the horrific MPG in the volvo too. I love the look of the E300's but cant be dealing with a manual conversion lol. Are there any other om605 / 6 powered mercs that are manual?? RE: Om605 info required! - dcm - 08-05-2011 Finding a good C250TD manual might take a while, most of them are auto if you’re looking at getting a sport model. The only W210 models that are manual are the non turbo versions I think. But looking on ebay there are always a few good ones out there RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-06-2011 Stock clutch can take much? and the 5 speed manual?? Or how many miles to a tenner lol I think im gonna do this. Ill start tomorrow on getting rid of the volvo RE: Om605 info required! - mantahead - 08-07-2011 Hi, no idea on mpg as its not a road car. Running her on red diesel, so its cheap. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-07-2011 (08-07-2011, 08:49 AM)mantahead Hi, no idea on mpg as its not a road car. Running her on red diesel, so its cheap. Ahh i see RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-09-2011 Are there any other diesel mercs that can pack a punch like the 606/605's that are manual? I really hate the rear of a C250 RE: Om605 info required! - dcm - 08-10-2011 Not really, W201/W124 models but they didnt make any turbo versions in the UK. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-11-2011 Ill just look for a C250 then. Its starting to grow on me crack on some of those cut block amg wheels and booyahh! Wish they made the E300 manual though! that would have been sexy as. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-12-2011 Started sending the parts back i got for the volvo today Merc time soon RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-13-2011 Really liking the champagne coloured C250's atm, there is a few on the bay and im definetly tempted! Hope they are still there in a few weeks lmao! Would it be best to go electronic or manual pump?? RE: Om605 info required! - dcm - 08-14-2011 It would depend on what power you’re going to go for and if you can find someone local to map the car? If you cant then fitting a manual pump would be best so you can adjust it yourself. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-14-2011 (08-14-2011, 09:55 AM)dcm It would depend on what power you’re going to go for and if you can find someone local to map the car? If you cant then fitting a manual pump would be best so you can adjust it yourself. I was thinking manual because i dont anyone local who can map. So it be a bit of an arse travelling each time - and i doubt it would be cheap :O! RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-22-2011 What is involved in turning one into a manual pump? Is it literally just swapping the electronic for manual pump is there any other faffing about like removing electrics etc? RE: Om605 info required! - aaa - 08-22-2011 Throttle linkage and shutoff seems to be all. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-23-2011 Nice one dudes. Got someone coming to look at the volvo hopefully this week Soon be merc time ! RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-29-2011 Buggar didnt come so its on ebay now What would be a good turbo choice? And is there an option that will bolt up to the manifold so i dont need to get it welded So far i was thinking in order: Coilovers Merc block rims (idk what there called lol) Big IC Clutch 3'' exhaust + dp Manual pump Bigger turbo RE: Om605 info required! - cleetus - 08-30-2011 Hi Palmer im afraid you will need to get the welder out as the flange on the OM605 is a triangular shape, and at best you will need to fab an adapter pipe. I am drawing my flanges and hopefully getting then sorted this week. RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 08-30-2011 (08-30-2011, 01:25 AM)cleetus Hi Palmer Ahhh that sucks! No worries i know a good welder anyway Cant wait to get started just need to shift the volvo RE: Om605 info required! - Palmer - 09-12-2011 Start looking for a car this friday |
