Engine braking - Imaginos - 08-14-2011

I've been trying to find an answer whether the Bosch IP pumps fuel when one uses engine braking?

It pumps fuel at idle. Engine braking is pretty much the same as idle to the IP

Thank you, that's what I suspected.

I don't think they do. I think the rack is being pulled back to the minimal fueling to try to bring it back to idle. If it is fueling it's a very small amount.

The electronic pumps shut off completely when coasting or braking.

Yea, every car with an elctronic pump or an ECU does that.

I was wondering whether mechanical pump had some sort of detection so that governor cuts off fuel supply.

Interesting. So i take it fuel cuts off when RPM is above idle.
