240D 4 speed transmission fluid - TheDon - 08-14-2011 I picked up two quarts of pennzoil synchromesh since it was recommended on the peach forum. Is that a good oil to put in the transmission? RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - 300D50 - 08-15-2011 Factory states to use ATF in the manual boxes, so I'd use that. RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - TheDon - 08-15-2011 I wasn't sure if that was a good idea or not since ATF is very very light. I read a lot on the forums and it's a mixed response jet like oil types. . RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - willbhere4u - 08-15-2011 I think it depends on the year of the transmission the older ones I have seen early 1960-70's used 30 weight & later one's used ATF and but I have no idea when it comes to the later all aluminum boxes like yours? RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - 300D50 - 08-15-2011 I know someone on here tried with ATF and regular oil, can't remember who though. RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - TheDon - 08-15-2011 The transmissions were swapped today. the old transmissions had ATF in it. The new(still old) transmission had gear oil in it. I drained the oil and put in the synchromesh. It shifts soooo nice. RE: 240D 4 speed transmission fluid - winmutt - 08-18-2011 ATF and 10W30 maybe used. Did you have an experience with the new trans prior to the penzoil? I have Royal Purple in my 4 spd. MTL in my 5spd but I am not over impressed with it. |
