Whats your thought on using this turbo on a OM617? - toyfreak - 10-19-2011 I found this garrett vnt-25 for sale in brand new condition. The stats on it are: The compressor inducer measures 1.567"/39.8mm the exducer is 2.025"/51.4mm the turbine wheel inducer 2.076"/52.7mm the exducer is 1.819"/46.2mm and is capable of a 250+ H.P. My goal on power is as much as I can get down low without a myna pump. I have to push around 42" tires, so getting them going will be important. I noticed that FI had almost 200 lb-ft of torque with just a vnt and alda adjustment. I think something like that or a little more would do me good. Do any of you think this turbo will give me a good amount of boost off the line? I will be adding any necessary supporting mods to not melt this engine. P.S. Any thoughts or suggestions on small twin scroll turbos vs vnt? RE: Whats your thought on using this turbo on a OM617? - led-panzer - 10-19-2011 It seems a bit small. I'd consider my 2056 small and I plan to upgrade to a larger vnt some time next year. That's not to say it wouldn't work, the low end power would be fantastic but the mid and upper rpm range would suffer. RE: Whats your thought on using this turbo on a OM617? - toyfreak - 10-19-2011 It doesn't seem too much smaller than the k26 I have right now. I only get 8-9 psi max out of it and if I can get the same performance in the high end, but with a great improvement down low I think I could be happy with that. Of course, if I can improve the power all around I would like that even more. Maybe I should look into making a compound set up. K26 #'s from B&W: comp wheel O.D. 2.6" comp inducer 1.73" or 44mm turbine wheel OD 2.52 turbine wheel exducer 1.88" or 48 mm turbine A/R 6^2 cm What about a twin scroll with quick spool valve? |
