Tire Chains? - serverman777 - 11-21-2011 My first winter is coming up with out front wheel drive. Im not worried about driving my 300 SD in the snow and stuff. But should I "chain" up my tires when there is lots snow on the road. Kinda like on that show Ice Road truckers. Something like this http://www.amazon.com/Security-Company-SC1038-Radial-Traction/dp/B000VAKXVK RE: Tire Chains? - iheartboost - 11-21-2011 well if you do want chains then after that dont waste money on those they look cheap. just go to tirechains.com find you state laws (on the site) they have everything you need to know, just gotta know your tire size. and definitely get them for all four. and at tirechains.com there are so many different variations. its pretty awesome but, with that said. if you dedicate a set of wheels to winter tires and one to summer. i think youll be much happier. tire chains are good for getting unstuck but your not really going to drive everywhere with them (or if you do youll kill their life) to me winter tires> all seasons with chains edit- PS if you click on car tire chains. that first wheel looks aweeeeeefuly familiar to our cars RE: Tire Chains? - serverman777 - 11-21-2011 Makes Sense. But Im poor and can't afforded winter tires Im not to worried about it. T RE: Tire Chains? - larsalan - 11-21-2011 Better throw a few tubes of sand in the boot. You live kinda out in the sticks, and those hills will be wicked. RE: Tire Chains? - iheartboost - 11-21-2011 yea x2. extra weight in the rear will help. just dont be a retard. so many people have no idea how to drive in the winter. RE: Tire Chains? - serverman777 - 11-21-2011 I feeling at least 200 lbs. RE: Tire Chains? - sassparilla_kid - 11-22-2011 If one were to get some winter tires, what would be a good choice? I've been thinking about getting an extra set of wheels (15" so I'll have some for the planned w126 brake upgrade) to put some winter tires on and was thinking about going with some Pirellis, since I have P4's on the car now and they are awesome RE: Tire Chains? - iheartboost - 11-22-2011 well. like many people have said. the cheapest winter tires will blow away the best all seasons. Im particular to the general altimax arctic's but really anything will do. p.s- you must have found the only good set of pirellis ever lol. everyone that i talk to from SCCA and just drivers/racers in general tell me that unless you have their race tires the blow just dont get pirelli winter tires...unless your really want to lol. For this winter i will be getting michelin x ice xi2's because my friend is SERIOUSLY hooking me up. like almost at cost for his shop. gotta love knowing people RE: Tire Chains? - sassparilla_kid - 11-22-2011 I have P4's and they've held up pretty well, unfortunately they are starting to get some heavy wear from all the high speed cornering RE: Tire Chains? - yankneck696 - 11-22-2011 Super Swampers !!!!! I want those! RE: Tire Chains? - MFSuper90 - 11-25-2011 Just get a extra set of bundts and put studded winter tires on them, then take em off when the snow melts. Thats my plan RE: Tire Chains? - serverman777 - 11-25-2011 I got a crap ton of MB rims laying around. Im start my new job Monday at a walmart tire lube express place. I might see if I can get a cheap set of winter tires there. RE: Tire Chains? - serverman777 - 11-29-2011 First snow of the season!
