Spooling Up/Power Braking - Duckinator17 - 12-19-2011 Okay, I know everyone here has done this, myself included. However, what are the correct procedures for accomplishing this feat? I get it up to about 2K and 10psi before letting off. How much can the tranny/driveline take? Thanks. RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - iheartboost - 12-20-2011 Haha I just blew my trans today doing this! RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - serverman777 - 12-20-2011 Explain more iheartbosst, what happen? RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - aaa - 12-20-2011 It's a heat thing with the transmission, so it's more like "how long can the transmission take it". RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - iheartboost - 12-20-2011 (12-20-2011, 12:51 AM)serverman777 Explain more iheartbosst, what happen? lol well i successively did a power break burn out. and i was super happy. then i was like..... i wanna do a bigger one!! so. there i am sitting on the break and throttle trying to damnedest to get it to lurch forward then spin blah blah blah. i just keep trying and trying. and then i felt the revs start to climb i was like YEAAAAAAAAA......noooooooooooo cuz i went to go foward anddddddd nothing lol. so yea if you have a weak trans like i did. power break burn outs aren't the best ideas. RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - willbhere4u - 12-20-2011 5spd swap RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - DeliveryValve - 12-21-2011 Sounds like you blew out the B2 piston. Fairly easy and cheap fix if you get an updated piston and sleeve from a donor vehicle. . RE: Spooling Up/Power Braking - Captain America - 12-22-2011 LOL! Yeah heat KILLS transmissions, and most of that heat comes from the torque converter. The more it slips the more heat is produced. |
