capflya's 1983 300D - capflya - 01-24-2012 So apparently I never started a thread on my car... A little late in the game but here it is as it stand today. I JUST got the euro lights and Ronal R9's on today. In the process of doing the front suspension right now so that is the current project. I have a 2.88 diff I may or may not swap in. I may keep it then convert the car to a 4spd and put the diff in at that point. I like how it accelerates and drives right now with the 3.07 diff and the higher stall tq converter (engine/tranny came out of a '85 federal). Contemplating light bulbs at the moment to. I'm going to use the H4's that were in the housings when I got them for now but I'm trying to figure out if I want to try HID's or just go for some nice higher end halogen/xenon bulbs. This is stock suspension. Since I'm doing the front end right now I'm thinking I will cut a coil off the front to lower the front end just a little bit. Anyways... Here's my car! RE: capflya's 1983 300D - sassparilla_kid - 01-25-2012 Looks bitchin'!!! Im diggin those wheels RE: capflya's 1983 300D - capflya - 01-25-2012 Thanks I happened to find them on craigslist like a year-year and a half ago. Finally was able to put them on the car. Now I just need to cut the springs so it's not so nose high... RE: capflya's 1983 300D - Captain America - 01-31-2012 Id cut two coils, but its not hard to go back and cut more after you get rid of the first. Is there a noticble difference with the high stall converter? I have one to put in mine here shortly RE: capflya's 1983 300D - capflya - 01-31-2012 Gah!! I only cut one on the drivers side and then put everything back together lol. I borrowed charmalu's spring compressor and it worked great. I want to be conservative with the spring cutting so I'm just cutting one for now. After I get the car all back together I'll check the height and see what I think. I may cut another half or another coil. I noticed the "first" coil is kinda short so I wasn't sure if it would lower the front much. I don't have too much to compare on the converter. The other engine/tranny that was in the car had a knock and I don't think it was running well so it's hard to say. I also noticed while I was working under the car that the tranny vacuum line came off of the modulator. That explains the harsh shifts I've been experiencing. We just got the 84 300D up and running and I can't really tell much of a difference in the cars. It is in better mechanical shape (at least I think it is) so that may be why it runs better. I need new injector nozzles and I'm going to turn up my IP since I'm changing the filter housing gasket. My car needs some work, but it runs pretty good for what it is. I havent tried with my new tires (that actually have good traction lol) but with the old ones I could power brake the car super easy. May have just been the tires but I'm guessing the higher stall converter helped. Pics to come of the car after I finish the front suspension... showing one coil cut. I have a parts car so I'm not too afraid of cutting too much |
