WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 02-29-2012

I'm looking for a set of either of these, unfortunately I just lost my job so I dont want to spend too much money right now, but if anybody comes across some at a yard or something for cheap I might be interested

Well if you find some for cheap (~$100) I'll paypal money lol, does anybody know how much shipping runs for wheels??

The cast aluminum wheels weigh on average 10-15lbs I think, might want to verify (at least the bundts). Go on UPS website and calculate time and cost, or any carrier.

Put in at a 15x15x7 package at 15lbs, and x that by 4. Or you could pack two to a box, 15x15x15 at 30lbs x2.

This would at least give you a ballpark. 100 dollar rims could easily become 250 dollar rims shipped

RE: WTB: these wheels - JustPassinThru - 03-01-2012

I see them frequently in local yards for $100 for four. There's an immaculate set on a 560SEL near me, but they have 90%+ tread Yokohama tires on them, the yard wants $300.

Hmmmm, I might have to start looking more diligently locally then, I found some at a yard like 4 moths ago and am kicking myself for not grabbing them Dodgy, unfortunately the last time I went over there they were closed (some legal issues regarding their name or something) (plus the yard is only 5 minutes from my house)

I dont think I could afford them for that much, with shipping on top of that they would be out of my range Sad

Try pick-n-pull, hit a few yards, don't be afraid to drive a little to find what you want.

RE: WTB: these wheels - larsalan - 03-02-2012

I thought their first order of business was to pull alloy wheels and scrap them.

That's what Pick'n'Pull lots do around here. Scrap value of them is around $25 each.

RE: WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 03-03-2012

I'm gonna start checking the local yards more frequently

RE: WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 03-16-2012

SO, I found a guy on craigslist parting out a w123 and he said he had other benz parts and after emailing back and forth inquiring if he had any larger rims it turns out he has some, and sent a picture this morning. He says they're 16"

Any body know how well these look on a w123, and what a good price would be to pay for them? I know he mentioned the offset is different so they would need spacers or something, but that doesn't seem like too big of a deal

RE: WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 03-22-2012

Okay so I ended up buying some wheels yesterday, they're off of a w124 300E, the part number on them says 124 401 07 02, the wheel size is 6.5 x 15, ET48, vs the stock 6 x 14, ET 30. So I guess I need some spacers and some long ass lug bolts

Do I need to completely make up the difference with the spacers, or can they be slightly smaller, because 18mm is pretty big.

Also, where can I get spacers and longer lug bolts for cheap??

I really wanna get these wheels on soon so thanks for the help
From what I've seen as far as pricing for wheel spacers, this seems like an alright deal, what do you guys think?

Would -3mm front and +2mm rear have any negative effects? Plus these come with longer wheel bolts

RE: WTB: these wheels - led-panzer - 03-22-2012

It's always a wheel by wheel basis as to whether or not they fit. My 17's are 7.5 inches wide and have an ET of 37 in the front, and they just barely fit. Things like height and width come into play big time as well.

The bigger the spacer the more likely you are to have vibration issues.

RE: WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 03-23-2012

I'm starting to kick myself for buying them. I can't decide if I should get the spacers, and also if the longer wheel bolts would be long enough since they would need to be double extra wide, of if I should just try to sell them online. They are in good condition so I'm sure I could get more than I paid for them, and then have extra monies to get some that will actually fit

RE: WTB: these wheels - Simpler=Better - 03-23-2012

Put them on the car. Test to see if anything hits, then worry about spacers

RE: WTB: these wheels - sassparilla_kid - 03-23-2012

I'm still going to need longer wheel bolts I think, since the ones I have only stick out about a quarter inch or maybe less, and I couldn't get more than one to grab. Maybe I'll try again later

X2

I read posts that said the rims I have "will not fit". Well guess what, they do.
I had the same problem with needing longer lug bolts, just measure the stock ones (in metric) and add 5-10 mm to get your length you need. Make sure you get the right seat, either ball or cone. You can find a shit ton of them on ebay.

This sounds encouraging, I still think I'm going to need some spacers but not as thick as I thought. I'll start out with the longer wheel bolts first

RE: WTB: these wheels - Simpler=Better - 03-28-2012

If it comes down to it, you can make anything fit. I run Toyota 16's on my Ranger, I had to bore the center hub hole for clearance.
