Is the SLS pump on the 617 up to the task of working continuously as an engine oil pump? How would one go about this on a 606 turbo? Any examples of a dry sump system in use on either engine? I know the advantages of using a dry sump but what are the drawbacks, if any? RE: replace vac pump with dry sump oil system. - Alastair E - 05-20-2013 Cant use SLS pump as engine oil pump! --Its flow is way too low. Its a Very high Pressure, Low Volume pump... There's loads of bolt-on crank driven scavenge and oil-pumps that could be used... RE: replace vac pump with dry sump oil system. - SurfRodder - 05-20-2013 I'm definitely interested to see the outcome of this project...a way to measure and compare flow and pressures between stock and dry sump would be a good thing to keep from doing some serious damage... RE: replace vac pump with dry sump oil system. - Simpler=Better - 05-20-2013 I'd put in $20 if someone posted a nice writeup |
