722.9 - SurfRodder - 05-29-2009 will a .9 bolt up to OM 60x?? RE: 722.9 - MB TECH - 05-29-2009 I would have to check on the bolt pattern but theres no way you could get the control module and software to run that thing. Plus the dot 9 has way more problems than the dot 6, if anything look into that. I am assuming you came accross a cheap dot 9 RE: 722.9 - DeliveryValve - 05-29-2009 (05-29-2009, 04:39 PM)MB TECH ......but theres no way you could get the control module and software to run that thing. ....I am assuming you came accross a cheap dot 9 ..... These folks might be able to help in controlling it. http://www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com/miltrans.php Might be expensive though... Which will defeat the cheap in the "cheap dot 9". RE: 722.9 - SurfRodder - 06-01-2009 (05-29-2009, 04:39 PM)MB TECH I am assuming you came accross a cheap dot 9 nah... just speculating... and daydreaming about 7 gears, and this after my 4 speed swap!! It would just be one more thing to keep an eye out for at the yards and/or on CL... I wouldnt think controlling it would be too difficult, via a solution like DV linked or something similar... (05-29-2009, 06:36 PM)DeliveryValve Which will defeat the cheap in the "cheap dot 9". not *too* worried about the 'cheap', if I could get it to work, I'd be pretty stoked....if I came across one, I'd prolly go out and buy something with a 603 just to use it... RE: 722.9 - Allu D. - 01-23-2010 (05-29-2009, 04:15 PM)SurfRodder will a .9 bolt up to OM 60x?? Yes it will,it has been done in this contry. But I´m not sure wich one of the 722.9 RE: 722.9 - gvp - 01-23-2010 This is very interesting!!!I don't see the exactly price of the controller.... RE: 722.9 - Syncro_G - 01-25-2010 (01-23-2010, 02:47 PM)gvp This is very interesting!!!I don't see the exactly price of the controller.... 750. But in their application notes, there's no off the shelf setup for the 722.6. They direct you instead to an installer who does that for you. (likely more $) but if I ever get to do a "franken automatic" this might be the way to go. RE: 722.9 - gvp - 01-29-2010 Quote:750. (likely more $) It seems nice....i ll have it in my mind for next project... RE: 722.9 - Allu D. - 01-31-2010 Does anybody here know if there are any company in europe that are selling or making transmission controlers? RE: 722.9 - Allu D. - 03-07-2010 Now I know that it is verry do able.. RE: 722.9 - Allu D. - 04-28-2012 Uppdates for retrofitting 722.9 The trans is retrofitted to an OM606 and driven last summer with 6 gears in use, this summer we have all 7 gears in use and we are able to modify the trans to an 7G-Tronic Speedshift with clutch that is used in AMG 6.3 models RE: 722.9 - whipplem104 - 04-28-2012 Honestly the complexity and the fact that 7 gears is really only good for high revving and fuel economy or an engine that makes little torque makes it not worth it. The 722.6 is very robust and the install is bolt in. I have very good starter calibration files for it. If I had a complete tune and an easy wiring solution for the 7 speed I would not use it unless I was revving above 8k rpm. 1st gear is way to short. Allu D. Glad you guys are working through the trans though. Is PCS supporting you on this? Or are you working on it yourselves? RE: 722.9 - Allu D. - 04-28-2012 When we started to work on the 722.9 it felt difficult and complex, but now its very simple, and believe me its worth it when you get deep in to this trans you realize that it can take much more torcque than W5A580, I meen that its upgradable much higher than the 5 sped, the limit I dont know yet but its wery high. Ofcource there is the W5A900 but its not bolt on neither. The only thing i got from PCS was tha its not possible to use current controller because it supprts only 6 gears and tha new HW and SW is comming somtime this year that for support, but still here we are with the controller and have 7 forward gears using that old controller. alltough the 7:th gear was a bit tricky to solw. RE: 722.9 - jeemu - 05-03-2012 Nice.. RE: 722.9 - jeemu - 05-05-2012 (04-28-2012, 02:25 AM)Allu D. Uppdates for retrofitting 722.9And someone modify that clutch to fit 722.6 RE: 722.9 - whipplem104 - 05-06-2012 I have a wet clutch in the garage. I have been looking into setting it up for the 722.6. The 1st thing is to get the splines matched up with an adapter. I think the best answer is going to be to cut it open and have the clutch machined and an adapter inserted. Then some small modifications to the valve body for control. Just to clarify Allu, you used a PCS controller and have figured out the base tune needed to get 7 speeds and manual paddle controls?. If so, do you mind sharing how it was done? |
