Manual lift pump for OM606 / OM603 - AlanMcR - 09-04-2012

It looks like the IP mounted lift pump for the OM606 and OM603 are interchangeable. Corrections on that assertion are most welcome. Unfortunately, neither of these lift pumps has a manual plunger to prime the system.

Any of you aware of a compatible lift pump that does have a manual primer?

The alternative would be a separate primer pump, either electric or manual. I've seen these (below) available from various not-so-reputable-looking offshore vendors. Any experience with these? They probably pump fuel, but I'm worried that they would introduce too much restriction in the feed line.

The one off the 617 m-pump perhaps?

The older lift pumps have a three bolt mount. The OM60x mount uses two bolts.

Hi,

the lift pumps from the 615-617 with M-pumps have a primer and will fit.
I use one from the MW pump but had to change the flange from 3 bolt to 2 bolt. The MW lift pumps come with roller (using a MW lift pump on a M-injection pump also needs to increase the roller diameter to get the roller on the cam) and basically the MW lift pump have "better" valves.

Are you sure about that? The OM60x pump is sealed by a gasket rather than an O-ring like the OM617. I suppose it could be made to work.

I wonder if one could drill and tap the side of the OM606 pump in order to add a manual pluger?

I know its an old thread, but I was curious about this. I had an old m-Pump for a 617 in my garage and indeed it appears that the bolt pattern is the same. I will likely chek it out this week and try to install on my 603 that on the stand right now. Ill post results later, but here is the Bosch Part # FP / K 22 M 101 ( FP/K22M101 ) in case anyone needs it in the future.

My plan is to bolt it up to ensure it fits and then swap fittings out for AN- if I can find the correct ones. Pics to follow...
