getting a new car - Purplecomputer - 11-15-2012 So I dont have to sell the mercedes anymore! My dad came across a 1997 Jetta TDI 5 speed for 1500. A friend of his is selling it so he is willing to go for that low and will hold onto it until I have the money (only need another 500 bucks) The only issue is it has mixed up vacuum lines. Engine was rebuilt + new turbo its green on tan so not the best color combo but hey, who cares! RE: getting a new car - Simpler=Better - 11-15-2012 You should buy any number of Fords that used a 2.3/2.5 inline 4 Or any number of Jeeps with the 4.0L inline 6 RE: getting a new car - Greazzer - 11-15-2012 CONGRADULATIONS ! Keep the Benz ! I was going to list my recent purchase ... but I was concerned over the buying public's frenzy and the pandamonium it would cause. I was going to list it at $7,500 and drop the price to $4,000.00 which evidences a great deal. LOL. RE: getting a new car - Simpler=Better - 11-15-2012 Seriously though, what are you looking for in a car? Speed, comfort, reliability, etc? Is a car ruled out for being boring, even if it's reliable? For the TDI, I understand the motor is decently reliable, and than the chassis will have the usual VW electrical gremlins. From what I've heard, a $400 tune that fixes the EGR and bumps up the fuel output is worth every cent. That and $1500 is hella cheap-the local guys want $1200 for the motor alone. RE: getting a new car - sassparilla_kid - 11-15-2012 (11-15-2012, 03:18 PM)Simpler=Better $1500 is hella cheap I have never heard anybody outside of California use the term "hella" RE: getting a new car - Greazzer - 11-15-2012 Can you burn grease ? If so, GREAT ! We tried it withmy friend's '05 F-250 and it ran like crap, he could barely get it over 55 on grease, and several times the computer just shut the truck off RE: getting a new car - Greazzer - 11-15-2012 poop then for burning grease. RE: getting a new car - w123love - 11-15-2012 Lolololol I honestly checked his sig to see if he was from NorCal. I did mention this car is a TDI right? yeah I know VW that age are notorious for electrical problems and what not, but fuck it. At least its not a corolla. The reason I am buying it is because I want a turbo diesel. I just cant go back to a gasser. RE: getting a new car - Simpler=Better - 11-16-2012 (11-15-2012, 08:49 PM)Purplecomputer(11-15-2012, 01:46 PM)Simpler=Better You should buy any number of Fords that used a 2.3/2.5 inline 4 I hear ya, I miss my diesel. The Ford is awesome-it ALWAYS starts, has enough power, is quiet, good mileage, runs shit over when I ask it to, etc...but it's just not a diesel. Might as well get that TDI then-just be sure to drive the 240 on a weekly basis. RE: getting a new car - sassparilla_kid - 11-16-2012 The part I'm from is mostly country music and hicks with lifted trucks who wouldn't take them half the places I go with the Benz |
