OM606 into a w210 E250? - maxypriest - 11-19-2012 First post, I have been lurking for years... I live in the UK. I have a trusty old w124 606 NA auto. I really rate the car, but it is sluggish, this I have a healthy obsession with the idea of another 606, but this time with a turbo, elements IC etc. I work LONG hours thus any potential project must be as easy as possible thus I'm thinking... what about dropping a 606 turbo into a manual w210 E250? Would the box be upto it? Has it been done before? Also w210 220cdi six speeders are available here in the uk, could a swap be done with one of them? Any comments would be apriciated. Cheers! Max RE: OM606 into a w210 E250? - aaa - 11-19-2012 Seems very doable. The stock 5 speed should hold up to a little over the stock turbo 606. For the six speed I would check on the linkage length (or how far from the firewall the cdi engine sits compared to the 606). RE: OM606 into a w210 E250? - Hario' - 03-20-2015 Considering you can buy an OEM W210 with an OM606 (called an E300TD), which is actually more common and cheaper than the E250 W210, I see no point? If you want manual then you would also need a mechanical IP as the ECU needs the EDC IP and the autobox both present to work, then a w210 220cdi six speed manual as a donor is what you need. As mentioned, the W210 came with a 606 factory so it would be a case of sourcing an OM606 from an E300 W210 with all associated anciliaries and it will drop in from a piping and electrical perspective, but I don't know if the 220cdi flywheel and clutch (OM611?) fits the OM606, I would have thought you need a manual clutch and flywheel from an OM604 engined car.. RE: OM606 into a w210 E250? - maxypriest - 03-20-2015 thanks for that Hario, but that was a question from years ago... built a w124 std since then. will post a vid in the next month. cheers, max RE: OM606 into a w210 E250? - Hario' - 03-20-2015 Oh yeah wtf lol RE: OM606 into a w210 E250? - barrote - 03-21-2015 he..rrgg , or u can tune up your 606!!!! fit a turbo , IP, IC, etc it will hold 300HP minimum. despite is N/A very few diff in them. the gear box, the only that may hold a wile at 300HP is the 616 found in the 270CDI. clutch wont work at 300HP, must find a sinter disk. any more detailed questions u can pm me. regards. |
