my w123 - codeman43311 - 03-30-2013 Hello long time reader first time poster. I picked my 83' 300d about 1 year ago with intentions of reselling it after I fixed it up but after driving it a month (because of my clutch failure in my tdi) im keeping. Im sure you know how that goes. but anyways im down to a few things that need to be done before it can be trusted to be my daily driver. 1. the heater fan/controls don't work 2. valve job and valve cover replacement 3. I would like to get the transmission fixed it shifts really hard ive redone the body and changed the color from manila folder yellow to a dark grey. completely different car from when I got it a year ago. RE: my w123 - TheDon - 03-30-2013 Looks like a decent paint job. Is it a Mercedes color or something else because it looks like Anthracite grey to me RE: my w123 - larsalan - 03-31-2013 Transmission can shift really hard if 2 things. 1. the vacuum line from the back of the injection pump and VCV (vacuum control valve) leading to the transmission modulator has disconnected or malfunctioning. 2. the bowden cable is too tight 3. other I cant help you RE: my w123 - codeman43311 - 03-31-2013 (03-30-2013, 09:46 PM)TheDon Looks like a decent paint job. Is it a Mercedes color or something else because it looks like Anthracite grey to me It is acutally a a chrysler color off of a 300, I used to paint in a bodyshop and liked the color when I did a bumper (03-31-2013, 08:47 AM)larsalan Transmission can shift really hard if 2 things. That little vacume line us kinda rotted, when it shifts under a fairly good load its real fast and harsh, when your under normal conditions its real long and drawn out and still harsh, almost like the kickdown is off or somthing, im used to old mopars and big diesels so this vacume stuff us new to me, haha (03-31-2013, 08:47 AM)larsalan Transmission can shift really hard if 2 things. Lots of people have wondered what it looked like without them. (03-30-2013, 03:52 PM)codeman43311 Looks fresh as ***k without the bump strips surrounding the body. RE: my w123 - codeman43311 - 03-31-2013 My only regret deleting the bump strips is I wish I took more time blocking the body, it looks good untill you really look then itll give you a frendly wave here and there, but I built it to drive not win any beauty pagents RE: my w123 - codeman43311 - 02-19-2014 Alright, it's been awhile since I've been on the ol interwebs. But I havnt been slacking on my car. Since the last time I was on here I: Changed all the belts/ thermostat Deleted all the original gauges and built my own cluster And I'm in the process of deleting the a.c. and making my own heaterbox And since I have the center console out I want to dye the carpet, I have a can of black dye but I think that will be too dark, any thoughts? Oh yea ill upload pics of my new cluster tomorrow, I'm too lazy to go out now RE: my w123 - sassparilla_kid - 02-21-2014 Please please please let's see the cluster! RE: my w123 - codeman43311 - 02-23-2014 Im trying to upload some pictures but my phone went full retard and its about to get smashed into the ground RE: my w123 - codeman43311 - 02-25-2014 It finally worked!
