OM617 - jarow123 - 04-24-2013 hello I'm new here, I would like to ask some options to increase performance on my OM617. Add power and tuned exhaust drop? or set the pump? thank you RE: OM617 - Simpler=Better - 04-24-2013 Assuming your timing, injector pop pressure, and turbo work check the newbie link in my sig. RE: OM617 - jarow123 - 04-24-2013 this motor is non turbo ,Is it possible to rebuild the engine turbo? RE: OM617 - Simpler=Better - 04-24-2013 Yes but-the turbo motors have sodium exhaust valves, a different cam, and oil squirters in the block, and a different injection pump. If you keep your temps low you can do it. For NA a tuned exhaust manifold, advanced timing, and pop balanced injectors will get you moving. RE: OM617 - jarow123 - 04-24-2013 When the engine speed will be low and last for turbo? RE: OM617 - willbhere4u - 04-24-2013 I had a turbo on my 240d and it worked just fine. I would not run more than 10 psi on a NA motor as they have smaller rods and pistons and no oil squirts to cool them. and I would get an EGT gauge exhaust gas temperature gauge and and make sure it never goes over 1100*F RE: OM617 - MFSuper90 - 04-29-2013 Agreed with willbhere4u. Seems several have done this and had good luck |
