6th annual Southeast PA Benzfest - JB3 - 04-30-2013

It that time again!!!
6th Annual Southeast PA Benzfest
Saturday, August 24, 2013 - 11am until ?
We can start at 11am and go until whenever. I'm still figuring out what food to do for this year. I'm thinking pulled pork and rolls, grilled veggies, and beverages. If anyone is into bring any food items it would be greatly appreciated.
Let's get a head count so I can plan for the food and drink.
I live about 1 mile from the Montgomery Mall to give you an idea of where I am. I'm between Allentown and Philadelphia. I'll give my address via PM to everyone that will be coming.

Im going, this is a fun barbq with good food and some interesting cars. We need to get an STD contingent of people to go to this event. If you are interested in going, please make sure that you respond to Chad300TD's thread over PP or BW so he can get an accurate headcount for food.

join me in desperate struggle to get something, anything, running reliably by that time. every year I use this event as a target finish date for various projects, and last year I didn't even make it, breaking down on the way.

And wrap the axles in electrical tape and refill them.

haha, ive driven around with broken axels for a while now and its been fine but since I have that car up on jack stands I might as well replace what I need to.
gonna go get some parts now, and probably take off the driver side fender and see who can repaint it for cheap. that shit got a repaint from the old owner and its all cracked and flakey

well im still scheduled to go and so far its gonna be in a generally stock 240. Purplecomputer you need to make it so I can steal parts off your 240 while you are enjoying the bbq.
I don't think I can realisitically expect my van to be safely drivable by next month, not that far. Around town is a different story.

don't feel conspicuous, I went to the one two years ago with duct tape holding in my headlights, and a failing alternator that wouldn't hold a charge, plus most of the interior gone. The one before Im pretty sure I didn't have a passenger seat and there was an huge hole in the passenger floor.

im heading down the friday night before. If you have a trailer hitch, even better. If my van explodes, you can take a tiny trailer down to the meet for a fee, so it makes it to its destined owner.

I'm driving up from Baltimore soooo.....mad dash to get the pump timed/tweaked and get the VNT in and installed. Been lazy up in hurr. Car hasn't been started in oh 6 months.

we'll race. You work on the pump timing and VNT, and I work on getting my rear suspension and diff in, EGT and boost in (doubtful), and shutting the thing off properly (maybe)

you might be ahead, I just got a red flag. Have to throw my van back together and roll it outside to accept delivery of a shipment of pallets that I thought were coming friday.

well it was fun, Im tired though. 600 miles in a soundbox van with a too tightly welded exhaust pipe was murder on the poor fiance.
On the way down, heat blowing through a 2 inch hole right across from the turbo was roasting her feet if she stretched out, and on the way back it got colder and she froze, none of these accounting for the all pervading noise throughout.
Simpler=Better you have to get there earlier next year! Wanted to stay longer, but had to get back for work today

If she didn't call off the engagement after a trip like that, she's a keeper. My Wife put up with a 9 hour drive in my Rangero with a cracked EGR pipe.
Next year I WILL have at least 150hp to show off. We have all the parts, damn there's never enough time.

Definitely agree on the time, there is never enough of it to donate to these types of projects.

I was hoping that a smoke blowing loud rusty wagon and a "you can't put a turbo on a 240" turbo 240 were going to show up. As it was, I was the only abomination at this event, with a double whammy of "you can't put a turbo on a 240" turbo 240 with the even bigger insult of throwing that abomination inside another abomination, and parking it next to some very pretty MBs.
I don't think Ive had that much fun in a while.

I dont think a turbo 240 is an abonimation, its more like "yes you can put a turbo in a 240 and I did and im better then you in all ways possible in my life"

i drove a chevy there with a turbo 240 in it last year, and parked it next to an SL just for good measure. my presence was not overly offensive
if you dont bring your 240, theres no way i can swap all your parts to MY 240 while you are loading up on food, which is a selfish move denying me parts stealing opportunities

I'll be there in the Ranger again, since I haven't had time to fuck with any of the project cars
Still should be a good time though, shooting for earlier in the AM.
Bring something with a pyrometer so we can get dirty and break shit.
If I can find it I'll bring my methanol setup-we can rig a blaster to make something go faster.
