Looking for OM617 (617 Q's Too) expert in West Central Florida - SixSpeed - 06-25-2009 Hey Guys, I purchased another Unimog, and this one is powered by an OM617A. Little information: Engine was bought new & installed in Germany, so I would assume it is a Euro Motor, if so, what are the differences? The motor only has a few thousand miles on it, maybe 4000. Anyways, the cab is off of the truck , and while that is the case I would like to have the motor inspected thoroughly and make sure everything is in tip top order. I'm also planning on installing an intercooler, and would also like to adjust the IP in whatever way I can, and do other basic power modifications. Anyone around here know anything about adjusting/tuning/checking 617's? Or can recommend anyone. I'm willing to pay...or give rides. Right now I have an 1984 OM616 powered U407. I live in Parrish just south of you. I'll PM you my phone number. I would HIGHLY recommend a VNT/VGT turbo for your application if you plan on doing any rock crawling. The problem with the stock T3 turbo is that you lose torque at low rpm. |
