Schuman forum - Diesel - 06-28-2009 I've have tried repeatedly to get on over there. I register.......I immediately receive the activation e-mail and click the link to activate my account which sends me to a new window on the Schuman forums stating that an administrator needs to approve or review my account there......... but whoever is supposed to review my account for approval never does and I can't access the info I could really use. I have tried sending messages using the "contact us" thing......nothing works. Does anyone know a mod over there that can get me on? I could really use the info in the W114/W115 section Thanks! RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 06-28-2009 (06-28-2009, 03:11 PM)Diesel I've have tried repeatedly to get on over there. LOL Don't think you'll get much help here from us. Most of us are banned or not playing favorites. Benzworld/Peachparts/MBCA couldnt help you? Any of those sites are far more heavily trafficked. RE: Schuman forum - Diesel - 06-28-2009 (06-28-2009, 06:17 PM)winmutt(06-28-2009, 03:11 PM)Diesel I've have tried repeatedly to get on over there. I haven't tried there......... yet. Thanks! RE: Schuman forum - DeliveryValve - 06-28-2009 What I do know is they have been having a huge spam issue. Henry has been battling it himself and it is consuming his time. It is one of the reasons it was given to me as to why certain chassis forums were closed to only members. The last I checked, they closed new membership registration because the spam was getting the upper hand. . But yes, many who frequent here have been banned from that forum. RE: Schuman forum - ForcedInduction - 06-28-2009 They died the week in February-08 when Henry childishly banned 5 of his primary information contributors for "sharing proprietary information" with other forums. Now his forum is rotting in the mortuary waiting to be buried. Henry doesn't understand how a forum works. He thinks anything posted there is HIS and his ALONE, not to be discussed anywhere else. A forum is for helping EVERYONE, not just a select few. His site has nothing new. We have far more performance related information (Publicly accessible too) and other forums (BenzWorld, MercedesShop) have exponentially more general problem help. I'm a Super Moderator at MercedesForum and they have a "big" problem with spam too. What do the moderators do about it? We do our "jobs" and delete the spam as it appears. MercedesForum struggles to keep new members active as it is, making registrations require activation or making forums viewable only to members would kill the forum. Spam shouldn't be a problem anyways. I think that people looking to modify their cars or fix them themselves should be intelligent enough to know not to buy anything from a spammer. Therefore, spam is nothing more than a visual nuisance. RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 06-29-2009 Its because of the software they are using. Vbulletin is not free and you dont get upgrades. So when someone comes around and writes a bot that can OCR the text then spam goes up. Doesn't really matter, closing off the better parts of his board does nothing for them. RE: Schuman forum - Motorhead - 07-04-2009 I got alot of good info there, Boneheaddoctor is a big help but I had alot of problems getting into Super Turbo Diesel. I stumbled onto this site trying to get on Schuman's, I hope thing's work out. RE: Schuman forum - Diesel - 07-09-2009 Absolutely astonishing......... I have been banned from the Schuman forum until 8:00am Saturday.......and I haven't even been blessed by the Schuman Gods to received an active membership. All because I've registered repeatedly and filled out the required "bio" field with "not much to say" ......which is quite accurate for me because I'm an rather private and introverted fellow who leads a very quite life.....hence, "not much to say". But for fixture reference for anyone who might want to register there...."not much to say" is an unacceptable answer in the bio field. At least I got a response from someone there. Amazing. RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 07-09-2009 I am not surprised. No you know how we felt when we got banned over trivial bullshit. Schuman and BHD are ego trippers. RE: Schuman forum - JimmyL - 07-13-2009 (07-09-2009, 09:05 AM)winmutt Schuman and BHD are ego trippers. Yea, good thing we don't have any of that over here...... RE: Schuman forum - Rudolf_Diesel - 07-31-2009 F'em...This is the reply I got from them today: Quoting "Rudolf_Diesel @ Schuman Automotive /Forums" <dzulpwr@hotmail.com>: > The following message was sent to you via the Schuman Automotive > /Forums Contact Us form by Rudolf_Diesel.>> -------------------------------->> I would like to access the forums, but cannot. I would also like to > access the superturbo forum. I am a diesel performance enthusiast > and would like to gain all I can as wells as contribute.>> Thank you.>> -------------------------------->> Referring Page: http://www.schumanautomotive.com/forums/announcement.php?f=58> IP Address: xx.xx.xxx.xxx> User Name: Rudolf_Diesel> User ID: xxxx> You never activated your account .I will resend that info later today but be sure to allow e-mail from us so you will get the info. Admission to the Super Turbo Forum is by merrit not just new members wanting in there.By merrit I mean get a few posts in the forums and we will see how you sail. We had a lot of Thiefs coming in and copying our material and hard work and posting it in their forums .MBShop.com, Forcedinduction in their std forums and many others. RE: Schuman forum - ForcedInduction - 07-31-2009 Like I have been saying, they are insecure and they really don't have anything new or creative anyways. Its best just to ignore them and let them die in obscurity. RE: Schuman forum - GREASY_BEAST - 07-31-2009 ..."merrit"... RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 07-31-2009 LOL. That really is pathetic. I mean really. I never saw anything on their website that wasnt available in a MBZ manual. RE: Schuman forum - dalek - 08-07-2009 FYI, when I originally tried to apply for Schumman's forum, I got an email saying I could not join because I wrote wiggling my toes as my job or something like that. Why should I tell about my profession? RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 08-07-2009 There is no accounting for others. RE: Schuman forum - JB3 - 08-08-2009 Ive never heard of anything like this. Who would they possibly think would go to all the trouble to get admitted to a 'merit' based private forum like that which tries to essentially brand public information as property? It ridiculous. The only thing that will happen like you say is that it will die a natural death. RE: Schuman forum - ForcedInduction - 08-08-2009 (08-08-2009, 07:28 AM)dropnosky which tries to essentially brand public information as property? All forums do this with legal BS in the rules stating something like "All posts and threads become the property of XXXX once posted on this site.“ The difference is $chuman doesn't simply want the information posted as his property, he want's his members to be the sole proprietors of it. Search bots can't crawl it, noobies looking for ideas won't have any "merrit" to get in (which means they can't learn from it, develop their own ideas and contribute in return), members can't post links for others to view and valuable contributing members will get banned if they talk about "$chuman's information" elsewhere (me) or say something even slightly negative about them (winmutt) . All that effectively makes the forum's primary attraction non-existent, which in turn limits new information and variety. Its like trying to expand your family through incest, you'll get fucked up kids and stagnant evolution. RE: Schuman forum - DeliveryValve - 08-08-2009 (08-08-2009, 08:38 AM)ForcedInduction ..... Ha! RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 08-10-2009 One could say Schumans is like German royalty family tree, the branches are few and far between, they always merge back (nothing new) and they end up just dog ass ugly and mildly retarded. RE: Schuman forum - ForcedInduction - 08-10-2009 "Mildly" would be relative? The "father" burns cold VO and uses straight 30wt engine oil. RE: Schuman forum - Kiwibacon - 08-11-2009 I wondered where all you guys went. RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 08-11-2009 (08-11-2009, 03:43 AM)Kiwibacon I wondered where all you guys went. More like where we were sent..... Long time no see! RE: Schuman forum - Kiwibacon - 08-11-2009 (08-11-2009, 08:41 AM)winmutt(08-11-2009, 03:43 AM)Kiwibacon I wondered where all you guys went. I've been getting my diesel fix on 4btswaps.com, I'm the keeper of the Isuzu section there. It has some interesting stuff, but it's great to keep up with the mercedes guys too. RE: Schuman forum - ID240D - 02-09-2010 This is an old thread but I was also bounced from Schumans with no explanation. I ended up talking to one of the moderators and he said I was bounced because I mentioned buying a part for my car off E-Bay and I didn't buy it from Harry so I was no longer welcome on the site. Justin RE: Schuman forum - winmutt - 02-09-2010 No reindeer games here! I mean if you cant figure out that you can buy parts from ebay what kind of fool are you? RE: Schuman forum - ForcedInduction - 02-09-2010 "Sorry the site is going through some major changes and due to the economy is now a Paid Members only now." Another nail in an already glued shut coffin. |
