No turbo pressure on 617a - Baumann - 06-25-2013 Hi I put a Om617a in my W460 G wagon, but it really lack on power. Put on a meter to measure the turbo boost. It does 0,3bar at max rpm. From idle to 3000rpm there is no pressure. This is my first turbo engine, so have no experience on this field. What could be wrong and how to fix this? RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - lgreeley83 - 06-25-2013 You may just need to adjust the wastegate or add manual boost controller. I would first disable the wastegate (pull off hose) and see what happens. Don't do that for long though. If your boost goes up to 20 psi you just need to adjust or add the controller. If not something else needs looking at. RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - willbhere4u - 06-26-2013 Check to make sure the exhaust manifold gasket is not bad I have a 300td wagon right now that wont make any boost because the exhaust is leaking before the turbo! RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - Baumann - 06-27-2013 (06-25-2013, 11:10 PM)lgreeley83 If your boost goes up to 20 psi you just need to adjust or add the controller. If not something else needs looking at. It only goes to 13psi when I take off the hose for wastegate. Does this mean that the turbo is worn out? Exhaust gasket is tight. RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - Simpler=Better - 06-27-2013 The big oring connector may be loose and leaking boost too. 13psi, is fine, but it should hit higher without a WG hose. You might have clogged fuel filters too. RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - Baumann - 06-27-2013 Fuel filter is brand new, injector nozzles are brand new. Tomorrow I will adjust valves to see if this makes a difference, since people in general suggest this as a option. RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - Simpler=Better - 06-27-2013 The all-encompassing list in random order: Fuel strainer clear? Fuel tank vent clear? Primary filter clear? main fuel filter clear? injectors built properly? valves adjusted properly? chain stretch within spec? IP timed properly? is ALDA restricting fuel improperly? is wastegate leaking?(you tested this with the hose removed) RE: No turbo pressure on 617a - Baumann - 06-28-2013 I saw this youtube video, and I guess my problem could be carbon in the turbo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYN7dUXop60 |
