FAQ: 4sp bolt sizes - dalek - 07-10-2009

Dumb and easy question (which other kind of questions do I ask? Big Grin ) : If I were going to remove a 4sp manual transmission off a car, which socket sizes would I need for:

o Flywheel
o Bellhousing to engine
o Starter
o Transmission mount
o Driveshaft to transmission
o Clutch plate

These are not that critical but nice to know
o Shifter assembly
o Pedal assembly

Other equally easy questions:

o Is the center console the same for both transmissions, needing only to change the gated plate where the automatic shifter ride for the one for the manual?
o What is this adapter plate that is bolted to the engine I keep hearing about (mentioned here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showpost.php?p=584978&postcount=38 )?

12mm 12pt
17mm
10mm allen
17/19mm?
15/17mm
allen i think

8/10mm
13mm with 2-3' of extensions. if you remove the kick panel and move some wires around you can come in right under the dash and go through the wire looms directly onto the bolts. the extions will be parallel to the ground.

yes
dont even worry about it the auto and manual are the same.

Thanks! Tomorrow I may be getting said transmission; I want to go ready for any eventuality. How about the center console where the shifter goes? Just your usual small-size metric hex bolt?

Yup. 10mm iirc. Dont forget pblaster for the hydraulic lines. Crowsfeet/flare wrenches will be a must for them.
