w124 climate control fan not working - MERCEDES-BENZ - 11-24-2013 I have a 87 300D and i love the car i've had it for over a year now and last December my climate control fan stopped working. No fuse blown nothing. I pulled the dash apart and found a burnt board in the climate control switches. I replaced the complete switch assembly re-installed everything and still no fan now its almost been a year and I want my heat back. I'm tired of having to speed up to get the hot air to move fast enough to get the fog off the windshield. My question is where is the fan located and is it easy to replace? RE: w124 climate control fan not working - SurfRodder - 11-26-2013 While I havent put eyes on the one in my w124 yet, it is probably in the same place as the one on my w123, which is above the passenger footwell under the dash. I've taken the dash completely out of both cars and the entire climate control out of the 123 and its not that bad, just time consuming. There is likely some good write-ups over on peach parts to get you started. You may want to do a complete rehab on the CC system if you do remove he top of the dash, but its probably a but pricey. Last time I rehabbed the vacuum system on the w123, I spent several hundred on all the vac pods, etc. RE: w124 climate control fan not working - waz - 11-26-2013 It's under the cowl area. You have to remove the wiper assembly and cowl parts to get to the blower motor. Edit: I've done two. The first took about two hours to take apart. The second, one hour to take apart and another to re-install. |
