What should I get for christmas? - Simpler=Better - 12-16-2013
The wifey wants to get me something but I can't think of what I need besides a 1/4" ratchet set...what should I ask for?

Ive had good results with requesting a gift certificate to some fabulous restaurant. The gift that keeps on giving, plus its a great romantic evening thing for you and the wife.
People couldn't figure out what to give me for years, as I really only want tools and/or car parts and im a much better judge of what I need to buy than a relative. Requesting a food gift like that lets them research something you might not otherwise have any idea exists, and its a one time use thing that rewards the stomach.
last year I went to this incredible Ande's mountain theme Peruvian place and had some guinea pigs. Delicious

I might go for the dinner thing-since hacksaw blades are $10 and deemed unromantic/ creepy depending on the scenario

I got an awesome DeWalt cordless a few years back, but it's on loan to my stepdad. I've only needed to hacksaw 3 times in the last few years, so my M-F-SNAPON hacksaw gets all the lovin'
Seriously, go buy a snapon hacksaw. You won't look back. It's cast aluminum with a rubber coating. No flex, no wobble, it's sturdy as all get-out. You have an upright blade pin and a 45* blade pin. Awesome.

Is the price of that hacksaw based on reality? Or is it a snapon standard inflated rate?
I have a very similar looking cast aluminum hacksaw that is pretty decent. Came from ace hardware for 25 bucks.
I like snapon equipment, but its beyond affordable IMO generally. I have a snap on torque wrench, a couple of picks, and a regular ratchet. The value of these 4 items (especially the torque wrench) is a lot higher than all my other tools combined.

Com on guys... this is a Christmas gift. Go big or go home! I asked for a new gun safe. Unless that giant thing she hid in the garage isn't a gun safe then I'll be a monkeys uncle.
Id ask for a OM617a spare engine. Then you have something else to play with and mule for test parts. Or just general tinkering.

If we are going big or going home, I'd ask for a om606 way before a 617
