w123 fuel sender broken wire repair? - jenyus - 03-20-2014

my gauge wasn't working so I pulled the send out and this is what it looked like

all 3 of the wires were broken off. is there any way to repair this or do I need to get a new one? ive seen lots of threads on cleaning and replacing but not this kind of repair, if anyone has any references please let me know.

Could you "solder" the E string from a guitar? Never tried it but why not?

proabaly better off getting a strand of bare copper wire and soldering that in. Im pretty sure when i took mine off all of these were soldered in.

its an easy job, Not like soldering surface mount chips

I redid all the solder and it still doesn't work. I think the little resistive wires got stretched.

if you can find out what material their made out of they can probably be replaced.

Or you can always buy a new one but i heard they're expensive.

It's a special resistive wire. Looks like I'm going to pick n pull!

looks like you can buy it, but its probably easier to pull a good used unit.
