Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-09-2014 So I am getting my car fixed, rust fixed, and repainted. It is charcoal grey, and i am seriously debating making it black or midnight blue. Give me your opinions guys! RE: Color change, need opinions. - Purplecomputer - 06-09-2014 (06-09-2014, 01:33 PM)MFSuper90 So I am getting my car fixed, rust fixed, and repainted. Black is always a good color. I always thought the w123 looked good in black. It depends on what color your interior is. RE: Color change, need opinions. - Simpler=Better - 06-09-2014 Gold 70s Mustang green Burnt orange Bright blue Oh dear lodr not a dark color. I think a w123 would look great in 70s green. RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-09-2014 I have tan interior, but then again dark colors kind of compliment the lighter interior in my opinion. But I went and talked to the fella today, and to half ass match my old charcoal grey doors, I might end up having to go with black because it would be much more expensive to have to take all the doors apart and match the exterior. Where as black and the grey will blend enough to be hardly noticeable. And simpler, I am not a light colored car kinda person. Darker the better Even though they suck to keep clean since I live on a dirt road, but I don't care I love my dark colors. Im not sure what I am doing yet, he is going to quote me to repaint it the current color and quote me to repaint it black. RE: Color change, need opinions. - E308L - 06-09-2014 I really like the charcoal grey, I almost bought a local sedan over the wagon I got just cuz it was that color and seemed cherry on the outside but after looking it was obviously a repaint and had belonged to a Swisher smoker. I vote for original color and then you also have matching door jambs, engine bay etc RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-10-2014 Yeah, I do really like charcoal grey. I'm not sure yet. I'll have to see the price difference RE: Color change, need opinions. - DeliveryValve - 06-10-2014 (06-10-2014, 07:48 AM)MFSuper90 Yeah, I do really like charcoal grey. I'm not sure yet. I'll have to see the price difference If you are worried about price, TCP Global has a good line of cheap paints called Restoration Shop. Pretty durable I think. You can either go with the correct paint code, or go with a cheaper option of their in house colors. You can get it in cheap Enamel, Lacquer, single stage or base coat clear coat Acrylic Urethane. http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/rspublv.aspx These might matchup to the Anthracite Grey 172 Graphite Gray Metallic http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/itemgroupdetail2.aspx?WebsiteCategory=Graphite+Gray+Metallic&WebsiteCategory2=Gallon-Kit&UBLV+%u2013+Low+VOC+Urethane+Basecoat&selectedsku= Tunnel Ram gray Metallic http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/itemgroupdetail2.aspx?WebsiteCategory=Tunnel%20Ram%20Gray%20Metallic&WebsiteCategory2=Gallon-Kit&UBLV%20–%20Low%20VOC%20Urethane%20Basecoat&selectedsku= . RE: Color change, need opinions. - willbhere4u - 06-11-2014 Dark Gun Metal Gray look so nice when its fresh and shiny RE: Color change, need opinions. - Simpler=Better - 06-12-2014 (06-11-2014, 02:33 PM)willbhere4u Dark Gun Metal Gray look so nice when its fresh and shiny Dark nickle isn't half bad either RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-12-2014 All of the above "close to grey" colors are really making me second guess changing my color. I have always liked the grey, but kinda wanted something that would be different. But you all are starting to talk me out of it I think I would have a different mindset on the grey if it wasn't faded and scratched up on my car. I am really leaning towards a shade of grey now RE: Color change, need opinions. - willbhere4u - 06-12-2014 like this or maybe darker? RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-12-2014 That looks like what my car should have looked like new, that one may be a hair darker. I am really kind of shying away from black the more I think about it. We live on a dirt road, and that thing would be dirty before it even got out of my driveway.. RE: Color change, need opinions. - willbhere4u - 06-12-2014 The dark gray on my 300sdl never looks dirty I love it. RE: Color change, need opinions. - mario - 06-22-2014 How about a candy apple with the wheels darkened up a bit RE: Color change, need opinions. - sassparilla_kid - 06-22-2014 Get the hood painted satin like rallye car style RE: Color change, need opinions. - DeliveryValve - 06-23-2014 (06-22-2014, 01:33 PM)mario How about a candy apple with the wheels darkened up a bit Make it with a deep clear coat. (06-22-2014, 05:38 PM)sassparilla_kid Get the hood painted satin like rallye car style Then accent with satin! RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 06-23-2014 Well fellas, the verdict is in, and it hurt. The body shop estimated to a tune of $4,000 IF everything goes as planned with no snags. I am not going to spend that kind of money on a car that's only worth 3/4 of the paint job. I have a buddy that has a decent body shop, so I am going to see if he can pull then dent out and repaint my extra door and call it a day. Kind of a bummer RE: Color change, need opinions. - JB3 - 08-10-2014 get a maaco quote on a location that has excellent reviews the big chains are always cheaper big time, with varying degrees in quality. if you do all the sanding prep yourself, a quality job of just painting could be had. either way you will be spending more than one of these cars is worth, its gonna be a if you love the car thing RE: Color change, need opinions. - MFSuper90 - 08-10-2014 I ended up just getting the dent pulled out and repainted where it was dented and my roof (it was about faded off). All that for $800, I am pleased with it. It looks pretty nice again |
