w210 rear axle to w123 - awk - 07-28-2014 Hey folks! Have anyone tryed to fit w210 rear axle to w123? I got lsd diff from 300td 1998 but fitting differential seems to be harder than fitting the whole axle. I want ot go for it but i need some tips or advice is it wotrh doing that RE: w210 rear axle to w123 - winmutt - 07-30-2014 You will want to find out if the back can swap over. IIRC the 123 has two mounting points at the front, these will not work and some kind of adaption needed. Also axles will probably be different as well. Or are you talking about the whole multi link setup? That might be an interesting possibility with alot of work. RE: w210 rear axle to w123 - awk - 07-31-2014 yes i am talking about the whole multilink setup. I want to weld w210 subframe straight on w123 body. The biggest problem is that the front mounting points don't match and need some kind of absorbers. Welding straight to the body will give lots of vibration. 2nd option is to fit somehow w210 differential to w123 subframe and make axles RE: w210 rear axle to w123 - swampmonkey - 07-31-2014 why do you want that axle? living in europe it shouldnt be to hard to find a LSD w126 or w116 differential, wich fits straight away besides the flange to the hardydisc, either rebuild your cardanshaft and use the bigger flexdisc, or change the flange witch is something of an adventure in itself to be done correctly... still a lot less work than adapting that w210 rearaxle. I would not weld he subframe but rather make some attachment points to bolt it on.You will hate the day you welded it when time comes to remove the subframe RE: w210 rear axle to w123 - awk - 08-01-2014 w210 rear axle holds more torque, stiffer, lighter ( i guess). If i make attaching points to the floor it will come off one day with the floor. Have you seen black smoke racing rear axle swap? RE: w210 rear axle to w123 - Petar - 08-01-2014 I haven't seen BSRs rear axle swap. Guess i have homework to do W210 rear axle is certainly better than the w123 rear axle.Semi trailing rear arms on the W123 are unsprung and heavy. If you ever had to carry a W123 rear arm you know what i am talking about. |
