Om617 na ip vs turbo ip - carlitosgy6 - 08-11-2014

Im adding a turbocharger to a Om617 912, the na ip will do the trick? Can i install a turbo ip?

M pump would work if you turned the fuel up. MW IP from a .95x would work and give you an ALDA but it needs an oil supply line.

The STT turbo kits gave instructions of how what to adjust in the M pumps. The stock MW turbo pumps might put out too much fuel for a .912 for some people's liking but I think you'd be fine.

I have a few pumps but they all are mw with the oil line on its side, im going to install the mw alda pump on it, thanks

he is adding turbocharger so he will "cover" that extra fuel with extra air Shy

Yes realise that, just that some folks have the false belief that adding a turbo on an NA engine will magically blow it up as soon as you turn the key Tongue

I think the STT kits got the power up to what the stock turbo engines were anyway

The STT kit has outdated tuning info, the same as "Lance". Find OM616's article on how to tune the pum,p properly & get max performance. If you cannot find it, I can email it to you in .PDF form (With OM616's blessing). Also, use a turbo pump, as I "THINK" there will be issues adding an ALDA to a NA pump.

Nzscott it doesn't make sense that Mercedes Benz will do such a crappy engine that it can't be turbocharged successfully, I'm positive that the engine is not going to last more then 150000 without giving some kind of trouble, the engine is in very good condition, i just replaced a valve guide and fix some tight ones, all valves sealing,new valve seals and compression between 360 and 400 i dont think is going to blow in pieces the first time it make boost, im going to use an intercooler also for safety and no more then 8 psi of boost,
Ed im very iinterested on that procedure from om616, i read it somewhere long time ago and he knows what he is talking about, im not going to overfuel this one but the one im pulling from my ranger is going into a grand Cherokee fully rebuilt + is a 952

Yes you should be ok especially with just 8 psi. An EGT gauge would probably be nice to have too.

Don't know if this is an option for you, but years ago I looked at doing the same thing with an OM616. If you're concerned with piston heat, it is possible to drill the block and add the lower oil squirters from an OM617 turbo diessl which will help the longevity of your N/A engine.
