Hello I've just acquired a landrover 90 with bad engine. Thinking on changing it to a 606 with a few upgrades. Has anyone on here any experience with the 6 speed gearbox fitted to the Mercedes ml270cdi? Any ideas on how much hp/ torque they can hold? Thanks

The ML270 CDI was available with a NSG-370 except in the USA.
Here we have that transmission in Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge applications.
Its rated at 370nm (273lbft) thus the "370" in its name.
I don't know how far they can be pushed before breaking but I personally wouldn't use one behind a 606 or even my 2.8L CRD.
I posted a link to a BMW GS6-53 6-speed in the FS section. It doesn't bolt up to a 606 or have a married transfer case option but is rated at 530nm. The guy wants $500 obo.

Engine is limited to 370nm with manual trans... Probably for a reason.

Surely use an R380 gearbox and chain drive transfer box from an early rangerover?

Have you looked at Ashcroft for drivetrain upgrades but keep the landie gearbox

The 606 bell pattern is listed here, pull the LR transmission and have it measured. Fiarly easy for a machine shop to make an adapter (probably)
Use 606 FW/pressure plate
use LR clutch disk
good to go
You will spend hte most time measuring everything
