Flywheel & clutch options... - DiseaselWeasel - 08-18-2014

Hi!

I'm seriously thinking about a manual swap right now. I've acquired a 2nd OM603a. And I'm thinking about dropping that in the Coupé and "spare" the MB exchanage engine (I don't feel like playing with this - it's in superb condition - too nice to "waste").

Anyway. I also have a 717.435 (190E 2.6) kicking about...

Which got me thinking; does the E320's clutch mate to a dual-mass 300D/OM603 flywheel?? The E320 has got more torque than the (stock) 603 Turbo - so should cope? It would be a rather cheap-ish solution for a clutch. I'm not looking at bigger pump elements of turbo - what a stock engine can deliver is sufficient for my needs.

Clue me up! Smile

Many thanks in advance for your input!

I'm using a late 2.6 transmission and dual mass flywheel behind my 603 turbo which is identical to the dual mass used in the E320. I used a 228mm clutch disk which is standard on the 2.6 but the same flywheel will accommodate a 240mm disk. Just make sure your gearbox input shaft is designed for a dual mass.

*Derp* - ja. I need a SM flywheel for that gearbox.

Do oyu have the input shaft measurements for single/dual mass flywheel? I'm increasingly unsure what I need. There's a single mass clutch/flywheel setup of a 300E going cheap... Big Grin
