Wow! That's a sweet ride! The color is awesome!
What color is the interior?
What have you done to the car mechanically?

Welcome to the forum Cool

Thank you!
Interior is black with white ceiling(roof)?

Engine has new pistons, bigger turbo and 6mm pump elements with intercooler.
On the videoclip I used an old om617 kkk turbo with upgraded compressor wheel.
Now it looks like this:

RE: W123 turbodiesel - atypicalguy - 06-04-2015

Thanks for posting. It is a nice build.

What turbo did you put in after the KKK broke?

Do you have any photos of the intercooler pipe routing?

Still driving it? Anything you would change?

Thanks again.

Thanks for replying Rolleyes

Now im using a borgwarner s200g and a dieselmeken 7.5mm pump

Im driving it everyday to work Rolleyes

If I would change something..... I would like to have a 5 speed getrag 717.400 and use a 3.07 differential.   ( Currently 4 speed and 2.47)
Also im not sure what to think of the clutchkit I got from clutchnet or whatever their name was. Maybe a bigger/stronger clutch, not sure.

The intercooler has the connections on the same side, so the piping is as easy as it can be. Old picture here.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - atypicalguy - 06-04-2015

This is really well done. I am trying to figure out a way to do it without deleting the air conditioner stuff. Probably not enough room.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - lgreeley83 - 06-06-2015

Looks great!

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Keino - 12-19-2015

Having some trouble with vibrations while driving. Thought that it might be the exhaust getting contact with the chassie.
Turns out it wasn't.

Anyway here is a small clip while driving some with downpipe only. Rolleyes

RE: W123 turbodiesel - MFSuper90 - 12-19-2015

Pretty awesome setup! I bet it runs pretty good! How much boost does it make?

I think it runs pretty well too Big Grin

Currently im boosting 1.8 bar aprox.  Thinking I can go higher, but as for now it's 1.8Bar

Boost starts to build around 1800-1900 rpm.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - NZScott - 12-19-2015

How did I miss this awesome thread....

617.912 correct? or .952 with the other oil dipstick?

Oh and I see you're the guy who I asked the question about the lighter flywheel too

There are 2 different engines on the pictures. The one where you can see the intercooler is .912
The other one, that im currently using is .952

Ah. Small world Cool

Few days old picture.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - NZScott - 12-23-2015

Ah ok, so how hard did you push the 912? I'm turbo'ing mine and debating what I can get away with

Very nice engine....clean too, which is a rarity. Polish the valve cover yourself?

What size exhaust housing and turbine? I think that s200 comes in many sizes correct?

With the 912 I used a 6mm pump giving 117cc
I broke the turbo one day when driving uphill for around 200km/h without wastegate. My boost gauge only measured 2 bar, but it was maxed out so it probably was 2.5 or more Idk.
It broke anyway Big Grin  Also it pressed out water from the radiator evacuation when pushing it too hard for a while. Had no expansion tank like the Turbodiesel has.
But I drove it daily for 2 years charging 2 bar without any problems besides water loss. It was that one crazy uphill trip that did the trick Tongue

Thanks.
I polished it myself, about to the the same thing with another one these days before new year. (my brothers Smile )

I wish I had the answer on that question.
Only know that this one comes of an Deutz industrial engine 6.06L and 210hp
Turbinehousing is A/R 0.64

More than that I do not know. If I ever take the turbo  off I will measure some.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - atypicalguy - 12-24-2015

Ok that is helpful. I am sizing something up for a 606 but I want it to spool below 2000. Thanks again.

No probs!
Just wish I could be more helpful.
Hope you find something! Big Grin

RE: W123 turbodiesel - atypicalguy - 12-24-2015

Maybe the r2s compound unit from the International truck motor. It has has a k27 on top. Or a custom setup. I am not sure how much fuel my current 6mm 603 pump can put out buy I am hoping for 115cc

That's pretty damn good considering. I'm worried about bending the rods on mine when I get around to running it. Consensus is to not go over 2 bar with the .95x engines or the rods bend, so very interesting to see yours didn't in the NA engine! All to do with fuel + RPM I suppose. I'll have to keep an eye on temps when pushing it too Wink

As much as I like the look, both my engines have scratches on the covers so not going to be worth it for me Undecided

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Keino - 12-25-2015

A friend of mine has been running a .952 engine with a 7mm pump, No idea about the CC it gives. But his ballbearing garret turbo (no idea about size) has been feeding that engine 2.1 or 2.2 bar for several years without problems. But then again, fuel and rpm matters aswell as you say.
But I don't know who figured out this magical number of 2 bar boost to be the limit on these old engines Tongue

How deep are the scratches? The covers come with alot of marks from factory, can be grinded away =)

RE: W123 turbodiesel - NZScott - 12-31-2015

Rather interesting about that Garrett, as apparently they don't like heaps of boost? I was looking at a small ball bearing one but were out of my budget range...
Maybe 2 bar is the "can never go wrong" max Tongue

Scratches aren't too bad. I'm just too lazy to spend ages on getting them out and making it look nice when the rest of my engine bay looks like crap lol
Might look into it when I get my other car going after I rebuild my .952 engine though

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Keino - 01-23-2016

Yes I did Angel  So much easier to polish without it, you get a nice flat surface to work on.   Tongue

RE: W123 turbodiesel - NZScott - 01-26-2016

I was going to say that's cheating, but won't, because I'm far too lazy for 15-20 hours work. I might just paint mine instead :/

RE: W123 turbodiesel - MFSuper90 - 01-26-2016

If painting it is cheating, then what do you call it when people like me don't even paint them? Lol

RE: W123 turbodiesel - mike-81-240d - 02-03-2016

More pics please. I've been dying to see more clean 617 builds, and this seems to be the cleanest yet.

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Keino - 02-03-2016

Glad you like it Rolleyes

Will make sure to take some more pics when im popping the hood next time  : )

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Petar - 04-23-2016

Very nice  Cool
Over 90kmh in second gear with a 3.07 diff ?? I was quite surprised

Assuming 195/65 R15 wheels that gives a rolling diameter of 1.96m, 100 000 m/h/1.96 / 60 min = 850 revs/ min
850 * 3.07(diff) * 2.22(2nd gear) = 5793 rpm/100kmh
Either my calcs are off, your speed or rev counter is off or you have 15% bigger wheels or a 2.65 diff   Big Grin

Im using 225/50R16 amg penta wheels.
The speedometer is from an S123 tdt wich fits to 3.07

The rear end comes of and R107 and is 3.06

So now you can calculate  properly to see how much it's off. Rolleyes

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Petar - 04-23-2016

Well 225/50 R16 have 1.98m diameter so not enough for 15% error. And you would probably notice going 15% faster if you actually had a 2.65 diff or your speedo was off but you didn't know it. So most likely your rev counter shows less than actual rpm.

If i were you i would test it with gps Big Grin

I will test with gps! Updating when I've done it.   Rolleyes

RE: W123 turbodiesel - awsrock - 05-07-2016

I just got the same turbo, specs are
Comp wheel 54/77
Turbine 56/70
Twin scroll T3, not sure on size, maybe 10cm?
The compressor housing is huge!
This is the one stamped "EC-2", I have seen an EC1 as well but don't know how it differs. That may be the 7.14L version

Test with gps is done.  130km/h @ speedo   gps says 119km/h Smile

RE: W123 turbodiesel - Keino - 06-07-2016

Increased boost to 2 bar. Guess I need to go higher, seems like it is still smoking when fully boosted while in 2nd gear.
