SLK / C Class Manual on om603 - ontum - 09-10-2014
Hello,
I have been trying to find an overdrive manual transmission for my stock om603 that I will be putting into my 79' Cabrio G wagen but have not been able to find one.
There seems to be several cheap manual transmissions on Ebay from an SLK or C Class that look like they have the same bell housing. I've searched the forum and found people talking about those, but haven't found enough information. Can someone please confirm if these transmission will bolt up and work well the with om603? If so, which flywheel and clutch should I use? Can I use the SLK flywheel and clutch setup?

Has anyone ever completed this motor transmission combo?
Can anyone point me to a resource to help me figure out if this is a feasible option?

As I understand, the inline engines with a LH starter have the same bolt pattern. The V6/8 engines have different patterns. You'll need to verify this.
The 6 speed will have a short input shaft requiring a dual mass flywheel. The Flywheel off the SLK should work.
There are a few threads that provide varying detail on 6 speed swaps in this forum. I think the cast AL bracket that holds the shifter in place will need to be shortened.

Any of these should work. OM60X, M104 and M111 engines share the bolt pattern.
Stock M111 230 Kompressor has 280NM of torque, stock OM603 A has ~270NM so you might be able to use stock M111 flywheel and clutch ???
