Came in a 4 & 5 cylinder engine as well didn't they ? RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 09-18-2014 Im honestly not sure man RE: 240 help - Petar - 09-18-2014 (09-18-2014, 07:24 AM)blankman812 Hello guys and if there are gals im new to the Mercedes world well I have had my car for about a year but new ti the mods I just got a truck so I am currently mid project with the car it is an 82 240d now I have read that its not a smart idea to put a charger on them but I never said I was smart now im looking for some tips and parts to further my build and the least amount of disapproval as possible this is something I love I am a huge diesel fan and I just want to make my car more powerful and obnoxious right now I have made a turbo mani and intake I have it all plumbed up and functional but I need more fuel and the timing jumped I am just looking for some input tips and assistance finding parts thanks for reading. Just install an EGT gauge and keep an eye on your EGTs. These engines have no oil cooling nozzles for the pistons so try to keep you EGTs below 550 *C (1000*F) hx35 ??? That thing will take forever to spool. Far too big for your power level You won't be getting more than 110 HP , not with the stock pump. (09-18-2014, 08:00 AM)Stevo-trendy These 240d engines the same they fitted into tho t1 vans ? Came in a 4 & 5 cylinder engine as well didn't they ? Yes OM616 2.4D I4 72 HP and OM617 3.0D I5 88HP. There are a couple of differences between car and van versions (different oil filter housing, intake manifold, no PS pump on the van versions etc.) RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 09-18-2014 I have a purpose for it im wondering about max psi it can take and I don't expect major horse power it was a free turbo and Where can I locate larger injectors or nozzles for the car RE: 240 help - Edian727 - 09-18-2014 Dnosd315 nozzles are the biggest you can get for these injectors as far as i know. Great to see more turbo 240's being done. i dont think you'll have an issue with longevity if you treat it nice and watch your egt. btw i dont think piston oiling is necessary at all. sure its nice but i can name a huge list of oem and aftermarket turbo engines that dont have it. in fact the only 2 i can think of is om617 and 4g63t, but im sure there are more. the real power will come from changing elements in your IP. if you have a MW good luck, there has been no real proven elements for it, though dieselmeken has been working on 8mm, and theres some 10mm volvos one that fit. if you have a M pump there are many elements available. btw, here a great write up on our pumps, done by OM616 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QkAv-HFaLqpK_5wKCln6DODkfw_DkjBHVYZXm0nUtEw/edit?hl=en_US&authkey=CJXuhs0I RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 09-18-2014 Thanks for the info do you know where I can locate the injectors and how do I determine the pump style is it an obvious thing and are the elements something you can change on your own or are they done in a shop RE: 240 help - Edian727 - 09-18-2014 I found nozzles on ebay, but from my understanding Greazzer on here has some in injectors and ready to go. elements have to be balanced at a shop. theres a tag on your pump that will tell you, there will be m or mw in the number RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 09-19-2014 Thank you for the information I am gonna see if I can get ahold of this gut to get some injectors and find out more info on the elements RE: 240 help - yankneck696 - 09-19-2014 There is no way at all that you are going to spool the HX35. It just will not happen. I had an IHI turbo on my 240D engine from a Ford Probe. Ed RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 09-21-2014 well I drove the car last night for the first time while putting out a whopping 3 psi and blowing oil all over the car I had bad oil seals I am now thinking of building a nice compound setup mainly just because I want some function out of the car and it will look ratty mind you I am driving a car that is completely rusted from the window line down no hood and slammed to the ground this is a euro trash ride im not looking to build a drag car or go all crazy its just a car to show off when im feeling ratty RE: 240 help - Petar - 09-21-2014 Just get a properly sized single turbo and turn up the fuel. At that power level a single turbo will spool up nicely while still having good power. RE: 240 help - bricktron - 09-23-2014 you will have no problem trading the hx35 for a garrett! hey! RE: 240 help - Edian727 - 09-28-2014 what is a proper size turbo for a 240? RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 01-31-2015 I can't find any of these nozzels on eBay can anyone help me I need some larger injectors RE: 240 help - yankneck696 - 02-01-2015 I had a SMALL turbo from a Ford Probe. It was an IHI, but can't remember all the numbers. With some pump tweaking, it ran respectably in a 6WD Samurai. In all actuality, it ran surprisingly well. Ed RE: 240 help - OM616 - 02-01-2015 I really liked the GT2056 on my tuned up 616. I was able to set the vanes in a fixed position and got more boost then EMP and it would max out at around 20PSI boost with 5.5mm elements and the governor tuned, and I started getting boost right off idle, it really brought the thing to life. I am going to upgrade to a GT2256 for the 10mm elements, if I can ever get to building the pump calibration machine lol… I would recommend the GT2056 But!!! you have to run a oil pressure regulator to it or you will blow the seals!!! The max supply pressure spec I saw was 30 or 40 PSI, and the 61X engines will produce 100+PSI at times.. RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 02-01-2015 I checked today its an mw pump and I need more fuel I can't find the nozzels and its almost spring I'm ready to get her out of the garage and start breaking necks RE: 240 help - blankman812 - 01-20-2016 Hey guys it's been a long time time for an update I am about to send my mw pump to a local shop and he said he can do some work he is gonna try elements and check on some other things he said I'm looking at 500-900$ depending on the work that is balanced and all so when I get it back I will give the full specs and changes and the power increase |
