Squabble's 1983 300D - Squabble - 08-08-2009 My 1983 300D Labrador/Biscayane Blue on Quartz/Creme Euro Bumpers French Euro Lights Euro Amber Corners Trunk Triangle Custom Momo Wood Steering Wheel 16" Ronal R-9s EGR Deleted Map Light Upgrade Rear Headrests Chrome Cowl Vents Period Correct Sunroof Spoiler Mercedes Mud Flaps yeah, it's all looks, one of these days i'll make it go faster too.... replaced coolant lines, fuel lines, glow plugs, running synthetic oil, zerex-G05, trying to get it goin' perfectly. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - DeliveryValve - 08-08-2009 Nice car! Love the rear headrest! RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - winmutt - 08-10-2009 Very sharp looking car. Now you just need some lowering springs.... Love the steering wheel. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - willbhere4u - 08-10-2009 The car looks great I like the french euro lights! where did you get the mud flaps? I need a set!!! RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - holmz88 - 08-10-2009 Great looking car...looks like it belongs in a rally. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - Squabble - 08-10-2009 thanks for the kind words everyone! deliveryvalve was a huge help with those rear headrests, one of my favorite subtle touches on the car. i got the mudflaps on e-bay U.K. they're the kind that used a couple existing holes in the wheel well and clamps on the body panels = no drilling or screwing or creation of possible rust spot problems. i've been meaning to ask about lowering springs and snow. will the car handle better or the same? what about in blizzard/storm conditions? i've put this car through a foot or two of snow and don't want to compromise that. of course...it does have a nice aggressive stance now...i don't know... RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - DeliveryValve - 08-10-2009 (08-10-2009, 09:18 PM)Squabble ............ Foot or two of snow? Keep the Rally look. Lowering it will just make your car drag through the snow. In additon any lower and you'll need a skid plate just in case you hit something. If you want to lower it, I will soon be taking off my 1 1/2 coil cut springs. You can have them. I am replacing them with 1 coil cut springs. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - Squabble - 08-11-2009 yeah, my road is the least plowed in the county as there are only three houses on it and it's only a mile long. it's just farmers fields all around...i'm in the middle of nowhere. sounds like i'll skip the lowering springs. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - winmutt - 08-11-2009 I would. You might want to check the FSM for a better stock setup however. There were many variations available for differing countries and their road conditions. You can stiffen up the ride without lowering it. RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - JB3 - 08-11-2009 you're pretty close to me. Do you run all winter on those rims, or switch em? Im looking for a set of nice, bashable steel wheels for mine. Beautiful car RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - Squabble - 08-11-2009 no, i slap a set of bundts on with studded winter tires when the time comes. i'd like a set of wheels with matching hubcaps instead though, those bundts are boring... RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - JB3 - 08-11-2009 They also don't really stand up well to the shock of hitting a curb sideways. They fracture pretty easy. Ive had a lot of trouble finding junkyard cars though, it appears they are so rusted by the time they get to the yard, thats its a short run to the crusher. The steel wheels are a little difficult to source RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - Squabble - 08-11-2009 yeah, i'd like a set of steel wheels with hubbies for the look and the weight in the winter. dropnosky: you said you were close by, where are you located in NY? RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - JB3 - 08-12-2009 Up in syracuse RE: Squabble's 1983 300D - Motorhead - 08-12-2009 Very nice car, I like the steering wheel. |
