Not entirely true. An employee at Garrett was telling me about the employee built turbos from the scrap bin. God I'd love to have that kind of perk.
Also Garrett sells bb cartridges as a journal bearing replacement which, afaik, works on vnt as well.

The center housing is unique to the VNT, it won't interchange with a non-vnt.

oops, for some reason, i thought that all of the models that started with gt were ball bearing. Thanks for the correction.
