What kind of throttle set up is this? - Torkey - 12-09-2014 I'm currently working on putting a OM617 turbo into a '79 300CD. The throttle set up is completely different from any other one I have seen. Is anyone familiar with this set up and have suggestions on getting it t work with an engine/throttle set up from a 300SD? RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - pryantcc - 12-10-2014 Its not unlike the setup from my w108. What's the problem? All you need it to do is to pull the throttle lever on the pump somehow, right? RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - Tito - 12-10-2014 Looks exactly like mine w114 and I'm pretty sure the w123 petrol has the same setup RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - DiseaselWeasel - 12-10-2014 Early style linkage, yes. Completely retarded - no wonder they replaced it later You need that bearing/bracket thingy on the firewall to change for the later style, can grab it at a pick'n'pull maybe. Needs welding/riveting/screwing to the firewall. RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - DiseaselWeasel - 12-11-2014 ^that's the later style less-retarded throttle linkage RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - Torkey - 12-11-2014 (12-11-2014, 12:14 PM)DiseaselWeasel ^that's the later style less-retarded throttle linkage I agree about the old style linkage being retarded. I'm going to try to convert it to the newer style. RE: What kind of throttle set up is this? - DiseaselWeasel - 12-11-2014 Well if you have in mind the old engines that went with this linkage - carburettor & vacuume-controlled IP; it does make sense to run it that way. But with the directly controlled key-start OM617 - it is sort of retarded to run it across the whole engine Don't know if the US market ever got those cars...!? |
