This is why I drive a W123 and insist my wife drives it when our daughter is in the car. This my friends was a Smart Car. I'm not sure what the ambulance is doing there. Should have been a Hurst.

I see both trucks are fully loaded. Depending on the speed of the trucks, there is enough potential energy at 26,001-33,000lbs each to do that to nearly any car/pickup/van ever sold.
Even in a W123, W126 or a full size pickup, the chances of surviving that kind of accident are nearly zero.

I thought the same thing, but figured I would at least have a fighting chance in my 123 depending on how the motors come into the cab on these cars.
The Smart did fight back a little. The hood and bumper of the red truck is going to need to be replaced as they appear to be buckled a bit.
I recall seeing a picture of a 123 a year or so back that was rear-ended at a stand still by a semi doing around 50 MPH. The guy was shot something like 90 feet into a ditch. The car was an accordion from the door post back, but from the post forward it looked good. I recall the driver was OK. Anyone in the back seats would not have walked away. It was amazing to see how the damage was contained to the rear of the car.

The first picture is not a smart car. Look closely at the picture. Smart cars have 3 lug's per wheel, that one has 4 or 5.

nice catch I didn't notice that before! I would suspect that's a mini van? Pontiac silhouette?
