should have got an HX40, Nitrous? - TurboTim - 12-30-2014

Right now I have an HX40/HX35 hybrid and I just don't think I am going to be happy with the performance in the end but didnt want to go HX40 because of the lag but now I am thinking I should have. So I was thinking about installing a simple nitrous setup, this would give me more power up top and if I do switch to an HX40 or 50 and will give me back some of the low end for street racing. Thought?

You add more oxygen to burn more fuel by forcing more air in the cylinders (boost) or adding it by chemical means (nitrous). But that's all useless, unless there's more fuel to burn. You'd need to figure out a way to trigger the ALDA without boost when you add the NOS... And let it transistion between NOS & boost... BlackSmokeRacing went doen that route once but IIRC they binned it pretty soon.Don't know how they did it. But shoving diesel fuel down the intake will certainly not work Big Grin

Or you adjust the pump so it puts out way too much fuel and then add nitrous to burn it all - but that would require runing NOS all the time. Unless your car works a smoke screen generator for the army or something like that.

I have built pump and she smokes a ton until I build boost so I am not worried about the fuel side. I am suprised not many people have done it. I am just worried my EMP is going to skyrocket with my smaller HX35 housing.

How about propane injection? Maybe with nitrous at the same time?

Propane + water injection for lowering the EGT, or just water methanol injection Wink U won't be able to use propane at full potential unless u have electronic injectors to take signal for tuning propane injection timing. Whithout that it will pre-ignite pretty soon, but I guess it can be a good gain in hp even without sequential propane injection Wink Never forget about EGT monitoring when going for big power, that's how most people blow their engines and turbos Big Grin

Supercharger!

Ding. Your emp is probably already too high with this hybid. I would try a regular hx35 and see if you like it.

eaton will fix that hehe

WRC used "rockets" to power the turbine Big Grin http://www.racedandrallied.com/technical-articles/explanation-of-the-subaru-wrc-rocket-system

This is gonna sound crazy but one could theoretically spray pressurized, concentrated (90% +/-) hydrogen peroxide into a catalytic converter and produce "thrust" in the exhaust.
The reaction of the H2O2 with the platinum/palladium creates heat and water (STEAM) which will blast out of your tailpipe.
This should suck/spin the turbine faster & keep egt's low but you'll also die from chemical burns when you fuck up so there's a trade off.

the fellows with twin turbo set up, think they solve the same matter u´re dealing here.
take a watch at BMW twin set up. one small turbine, and a big one. low engine speed, small turbine take the lead, high eng speed big turbine takes over. (control is by ECU)
(controling with out ECU): fueling humm , fit a ADA capsule at IP, so that it is possible to add VAC and/or BOOST, install 2 VAC solenoids one adding vac at ADA and the other adding boost. use EGR trigger to open boost at capsule and nitous oxide to the engine.
for the twins, easy, simple and easy: pneumatic control based on EGP/EMP or and MAP. (boost)
regards.
