Boost actuator, and boost pressure? - MrHope - 01-22-2015

i have removed the vaccum actuator and installed a boost controlled one, but i think it might be to strong,...

I have a 605 with 6mm 95cc dieselmeken pump and original garret turbo.

How much boost can the stock turbo deliver?
And what happens if the wastegate dosent open as is should?

You build more boost and life is good. May not be the best for the turbo and some of that air is useless but more air is better then less.

Im not so worried about the turbo, but if the engine is in danger if the wastegate dosent open?

I tried once fully closed wastegate with original turbo on 606, few seconds full throttle on 3rd gear and turbine wheel exited through straight pipe, donĀ“t try this at home. Smile You need boost gauge, original turbo runs well to 1,6 bar, this turbo is so small and can't do any harm to engine.

More boost is not a problem for the vehicle at all and is actually better.

hy there,
a vacumm actuador is a light device compared to a boost actuator, one operates under vaccum wich in a MB can be low as 500hectopascals/milibar, wich is -0.5 bar, most vac actuators operate on the 700millibar range -0.3bar.
the boost actuator is quite a strong device , normally there are several ratings. the most common is +1.2 bar, +1.2 bar is somehow 2/3rd of the pressure inside a tire. so is quite dificult to move it by hand, oposite to a vac actuator. besides the spring force u can identify them by the hose conection, vac is a straight pipe out , and press(boost) have some sort of L shaped tubing out. is always like this in the automotive industry.
despite it seems too strong it will operate according to F=m.a , wich a small press acting over a wide area will come ou multiplied by that area.
just test your press actuator , find out wich pressure it will operate and u ll be fine. as much as 1.5 BAR will do no harm to your engine, and if u close the waste gate with a strong spring, eliminating the actuator will result in prety much the same, cause when the Exaust Gas Pressure overcomes the force of the spring will cause the valve to open anyway.
regards.

Stock 605 boost is 19psi according to my eBay spectacular gauge.
