I was going to send mine out to KM Cams but just wondering if there is any other options before I send them away.

There are a number of good camshaft companies here in the states I would give a call to see if they can do a regrind for you. Probably going to need to know what specs you want though and mention this is an inline 6, 24v engine.
Crower Cams is a good one. http://www.crower.com/camshafts.html?cat=70
They list DOHC 6cyl regrinds for $189. I have personally done a fair bit of business with Crower and have been very happy. They made us up some custom offset cup solid roller lifters for a non production racing engine. Great folks over there.
Schneider Cams- They can grind about anything and already do oddball & European stuff like BMW & Volvo. http://schneidercams.com/
I will most likely have one of these companies do my OM606 cams at some point.

Yeah no doubt getting the actual specs I can grind the cams too is going to be hard. We know we can go 1mm more lift since na cams have it and we also know the centerline are different so we should at least be able to grind that much more out of the cam one way.

I would certainly talk to someone. If you know the max lift you want, they can probably lead you in the right direction in say a change in duration, LSA, etc. Explain that it is a turbocharged diesel. Crower has done diesel cams for the Duramax and I think others, so they have a grasp on diesel stuff.

The concern though that I have is valve to pistons contact and we don't really know how far we can go before that happens.

10mm lift is safe, 10.6mm lift is not
We did 1.5mm deeper valve reliefs in the pistons for the record engine.TDC lift intake 1mm, exhaust 0,9mm.

What I have done in the past is a long standing hot rodder trick, put modeling clay on the piston top, put a film of lithium grease on the valve face and bolt the head on and rotate it through, take the head off, section the thinnest areas of the clay with a razor blade and measure the height carefully. Worked good enough on our 3000+hp Arias Hemi I built for our Promod Nova!
Keep in mind rpm vs valve springs/valve float. And you can use an old head gasket & bolts for this kind of thing and that will be close enough since you need a clearance safety margin.

At the least, you'll need to measure valve to piston clearance at TDC. I would just remove the valve cover and push the valve down by hand until it stops.
Once you've got that, you can figure out what clearance you have at other crank angles.

Well I emailed every company you said this morning and the only people who responded was Oregon cam and they said contact Web cams but I already did. Guess we will give it a couple days and see what happens.

Well I hope someone can help you! I may need the same service down the road. I know with some of these companies, they can be very busy, especially Crower, alot of business with drag racers alone. You might have to actually call them. Just a thought. Our custom lifter ordeal was a need a solution ASAP kinda thing and we gave them a call and had our parts a few days later.
I have recently been in contact with some companies about turbos and replies by email were spotty at best, had to pick up the phone instead

Well I finally called Crower and got ahold of somebody. Looks like the can do it for $100 a cam roughly! I'm wondering if I should get an NA cam just to send them. It seems like the bigger the cam the better to machine. Does anyone know where to get an NA cam? Car-part lists no core motors.

i have writen somewhere in the fórum what was the diff between N/A and turbo cams, and there is diff in the intake cam, exaust are the same. intake cam has lobes with one mm more wich i dont know if it will lift more 1 mm. and a slight overlap of 13º if i´m not wrong.
any how this diff are listed in the maintnance manual.
so the question, why u want to make custom cams, just cause of lift? or u intend to play with more overlap/valve advance?

I'm switching to a VGT turbo so I should be seeing less backpressure so I was going to try to add some overlap but mostly I just want more lift and duration.

I used Web Cams on my gas engine. Really liked discussing the details with them and what we should be doing. They actually welded mine up and then reground them. It was pricey. The problem you have with just a regrind is that your base circle gets to small and it is hard to get the proper ramp. Also you may have to shim your valve stems or get adjustable tappets or new valves with longer stems, you get the point.
And to be honest the ROI was not worth it. And it was a very steep slippery slope to go much further with the profile to get big gains, ie basically all new parts in the head and a lot of machine work.
A few more pounds of boost is a lot cheaper. And something to think about is port work might be a better place to focus.
