606962 and up oil pump with o ring. - whipplem104 - 04-02-2015

So, I am working on my oil pan and pump swap for my 648 diesel. I am using the om606 early oil pump and front sump pan for the swap I am working on. The 648 has an o ring on the pump to seal to the block. I was looking through the epc on this and found that the 962 om606 has the oring but the other versions do not. It seems to be the same block and I was wondering if anyone on here from Europe or the like has any info on this. I see no problem with what I am doing as the pump bolts on the same way all the older inline motors do.

I have a 606.910 oil pump in bits in my shop. I'll check tomorrow (its 10.15pm here Wink ) for an O ring or not.

i used my 602 pump in my 605 engine. I mounted a girdle so i had a bit of a diffrent set up. However a standard o-ring fits in there. i used a viton o-ring from my wurth selection.

The thing is that the 606 pump that I am using does not have a provision for an o ring. The 648 pump did. I checked that the bore of the pump seals off at the block so it is just a machined fit.

use locktite glue for sealing the joint, the green will hold whatever pressure that pump will put out.
