722.3 max nm - PedroFerreira - 06-14-2015 what is the max nm to 722.3 ?400nm is ok? RE: 722.3 max nm - Eric78 - 06-19-2015 (06-14-2015, 06:06 PM)PedroFerreira what is the max nm to 722.3 ?400nm is ok? Early versions of the M120 v12 had a 722.3series transmission & they were 580nm. Any 722.3 what was attached to one of the larger v8s would handle over 400nm easy too & should be easier to find. RE: 722.3 max nm - PedroFerreira - 06-20-2015 I want to keep my original gearbox from 300d turbo.....will be ok with 400nm? RE: 722.3 max nm - Eric78 - 06-22-2015 (06-20-2015, 10:37 AM)PedroFerreira I want to keep my original gearbox from 300d turbo.....will be ok with 400nm? I'm not sure of the internal differences betweed the various 722.3 transmissions, you're unlikely to break it but in saying that you might find that the internal clutch just slip. RE: 722.3 max nm - hents99 - 06-22-2015 Ask from Roman (http://turbobandit.com). He`s using 722.3 trannys. Most of cars have 600+ Nm. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 08-03-2015 Do they speak English? RE: 722.3 max nm - hents99 - 08-04-2015 (08-03-2015, 05:36 PM)MFSuper90 Do they speak English? Yes. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 08-05-2015 That's awesome. It would be great to have a semi-reliable trans to put behind a merc STD without shipping stuff from europe RE: 722.3 max nm - whipplem104 - 08-05-2015 The 722.3 can easily handle in excess of 400lb/ft of torque if built properly and the pressures are set up properly. I ran over 300lb/ft of torque through a stock one in my 300ce for years. Main thing is to turn up the pressures. They shift terrible but can take some abuse. The modulator does a lot for the main pressure. If it is shifting firm then it is ok. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 08-05-2015 What else has to be done besides pressures? Different valve body set up, different clutches, more clutches etc? RE: 722.3 max nm - whipplem104 - 08-05-2015 Just redo the clutch packs to have more clutches in them like the v8/v12 transmissions. The brake bands are all the same. Then turn up the modulator. If you need more than that you would have to start playing with spring pressures in the valve body. But I would imagine that would cover you. The modulator adjustment makes a lot of difference. RE: 722.3 max nm - atypicalguy - 09-18-2015 Nice thread. Thanks guys. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 11-03-2015 Whipplem104, you seem to be one of most knowledgable people on STD about these merc autos. Do you have a recommendation of anyone in the Eastern US to work on one? I want to have mine fine through and beefed up before I put it behind my 603 RE: 722.3 max nm - whipplem104 - 11-03-2015 Are you running a 722.3? If so I would recommend Blue Ridge MB. In Atlanta He does a lot of work on the 722.3s. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 11-03-2015 I have one mated to my 603 that is going into my car. I was wanting to send it out before I do the swap this winter. I'm located in Ohio, so shipping would kill me RE: 722.3 max nm - whipplem104 - 11-03-2015 Well you could have a local transmission shop just go through it and freshen it up and then get a valve body from someone. It really just depends on how much power you are making what is worth it. RE: 722.3 max nm - MFSuper90 - 11-03-2015 Will blue ridge sell a built valve body? I wish you or blue ridge were closer, then I'd just send it to you and have it done right for sure haha RE: 722.3 max nm - 124diesel - 11-05-2015 (11-03-2015, 11:50 AM)MFSuper90 Whipplem104, you seem to be one of most knowledgable people on STD about these merc autos. If you guys only knew what he's accomplished with these transmissions you'd be amazed. A happy customer.
