Swapping out turbo actuators - m1tch - 06-21-2015 Hi all, I am looking to swap out my vacuum operated wastegate actuator for a boost operated actuator, it will be a straight swap over and I can just run a boost line from where the MAP sensor is. My question is - which standard actuator do I need? The car has the standard KKK K14 turbo, it looks like the K03 actuator is the same - eg same mountings, I believe they are standard on other german models. Can anyone confirm which alternate actuator I should look for - don't really want to go for an expensive adjustable one as its only the standard turbo - just need to ensure that the turbo is getting steady boost levels. RE: Swapping out turbo actuators - Hario' - 07-03-2015 We cut the old actuator off the mounting bracket, then bought an actuator from a Mitsubishi Evo 6 from ebay for about £4 and fitted it to the original hacked mount. total parts cost: £4 total beers: 5 RE: Swapping out turbo actuators - m1tch - 07-03-2015 (07-03-2015, 08:03 AM)Hario We cut the old actuator off the mounting bracket, then bought an actuator from a Mitsubishi Evo 6 from ebay for about £4 and fitted it to the original hacked mount. Thanks for that, just looking at which actuators might fit, it seems a straight shot so something from a TD05 series of turbo might fit ok and attached to the bolts on the backplate of the turbo. Its annoying as I had a few spare ones kicking around from various cars, I have 1 spare one which might work but could be too big. The main issue I am coming up against is making sure I get a boost operated actuator rather than a vacuum operated one otherwise I am back to square 1! RE: Swapping out turbo actuators - Hario' - 09-14-2015 We bought a few random ones for under a fiver each, Evo6 & Saab IIRC and trialled to find one that fits,. The SAAB one did I think. |
