OM605 or OM602A - Jambo - 09-16-2015 Hi all, What engine would you recommend using in a NA 290 G. OM605 or OM602A the 290GDT that comes out of a G but is electronic. Was thinking of changing to a mechanical pump (if that is possible). What about injectors? It wold make fitting easier since it comes with intercooler/ fender... I know the power is down on the 290 but could it be increased significantly with the mechanical pump and possibly new injectors? Looking forward to your views. RE: OM605 or OM602A - barrote - 09-16-2015 what is the engine number? 602.98X ? if it is then we are talking about a Direct injection engine with a VE EDC , wich changing to a VE mechaanical is a kind of dificult to do due to the fact that there are no mech VE 5 cyl with mb flange , wich necessitates deep modification. Changing to a M is posible but modification is needed for the timing device, or it may work out well with the timing device, in a few monts i´ll let u know of that. if it is just a 602.94X i belive a 2.9 version of the famous 602, i think they are indirect injection with lucas epic pump, if that is the case changing to a M pump is direct swap. regards RE: OM605 or OM602A - GD290 - 09-16-2015 https://www.facebook.com/dieselmeken?fref=ts Göran Lindskog aka Dieselmeken has a proper solution. Scroll down to the post on August 25th. in how he has build a mechanical version of the direct injected 2.9L TD RE: OM605 or OM602A - Jambo - 09-17-2015 Thanks Guys, Will have a look if such a pump is available here. Gorans motor looks/sounds impressive. RE: OM605 or OM602A - barrote - 09-17-2015 that pump his hybrid , only him or a few other experts can make u one RE: OM605 or OM602A - stig - 09-23-2015 Why don't you look at an OM662a out of a Ssangyong 2.9TD, will bolt straight in, you have the sump off your 2.9, they are mechanically injected and are a great engine. They are around 120hp standard but can easily be turned up to 150+. |
