getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - PedroFerreira - 12-02-2015 hello, next mounth i il start the conversion from automatic to manual in my w124 300d turbo. i will use 717.404 gearbox from a w201 2.3 16v single fly well... can i use the rest of the parts from a w124 CE300 24v with getrag whith dual fly well? like selector, clutch and brake pedal ,drive shaft,etc... what is the max nm for 717.404? thanks for help RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - Druk - 12-02-2015 Is the gearbox you intend using the dog-leg Getrag box? The changer turret for the 'normal' gearbox won't work with a dog-leg box and vice versa. This is because reverse and first/fifth gear are in different positions on each box. Drive shaft for a manual box is also longer in the front half. The rear half and center bearing are the same. Clutch and brake pedal unit is a straight swop for the auto one. The clutch fluid is fed from the rear half of the brake cyl reservoir but it is better imho to provide a separate fluid reservoir. You also need the manual gearbox rear crossmember. . RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - hents99 - 12-03-2015 Flywheel and clutch must be from 16v. 24v dual mass Flywheel will not fit with 717.404 box. RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - PedroFerreira - 12-03-2015 yes im talking about dog leg geabox.... im think about to use : -getrag dog leg from 190E 2.3 16v -flywel from om603 n/a -shift selector, drive shaft (wil be to short?),brake and clutch pedals and gearbox rear crossmember from a w124 CE 300-24V with getrag dog leg the parts from CE work with gearbox from 190E? RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - Druk - 12-03-2015 (12-03-2015, 11:03 AM)PedroFerreira yes im talking about dog leg geabox.... The 190e box is a 717.404 which has the long input shaft and should be fine with the SM flywheel but not the DM. The 124 box is a 717.450 which has a short input and needs the DM flywheel although whether they use the same casing and gearchange turret or not I don't know for certain but probably. If you have the manual driveshaft it should fit. It's the auto one that shorter. . RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - PedroFerreira - 12-24-2015 what single mass fly wel can i use? RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - benzguy - 12-24-2015 The bigger the clutch the better if you can find the flywheel from an 86 300E that one takes a 9.5" clutch disc RE: getrag 717.404 in w124 300d turbo HELP!!! - PedroFerreira - 12-25-2015 and that is single mass? what years from 300E had single mass flywheel? A LOT what makes the 717.450 more easy to fix btw? availability in parts?
