Twin VNT turbos on 606? - Alexdaredevils - 12-06-2015 Has this been done before? Gt1749v/Gt2056v etc etc What would the pros and cons be? Has this been tried before? The are massively efficient and spool very fast, maybe 3 cylinders on each? Debate RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - 50harleyrider - 12-06-2015 As a long time TDIer, I can tell you two GT2056 or two GT 1749vb or vc would be really nice. i'm doing my first STD Mercedes OM606 engine with a Holset HX35w 10 cm. When I get brave enough to build my own intake, I'll go with two VNT Garretts also although you're looking at $1k each and a standalone boost controller. Talk to Darkside in the UK. They may have done it already or know someone who has. I'm not sure if they're TDI only. RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - MFSuper90 - 12-06-2015 Who makes a controller? RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - raysorenson - 12-06-2015 Olefejer's 722.6 controller controls vacuum VNT's RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - 50harleyrider - 12-07-2015 Those small Garrets are vac controlled indeed. I'm going with Ole 722.6 tcu also. I just need to find a 722.6 with a transfer case. Were any available in Europe? I think a W5A580 used in Jeeps in N/A may work. I'd have to go with a manual transfer case shifter if I use Ole's tcu. RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - deviance - 12-07-2015 If need VW/Audi Turbo. Just pm for me. I have GTB, GTC, GTD series. New, used..watercooled. Anything you want. RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - Hario' - 12-08-2015 (12-07-2015, 06:10 AM)50harleyrider Those small Garrets are vac controlled indeed. Yes, the W163 ML-Class. it came with 4-matic option and 2.7cdi so it has the 4wd 722.6 with an open diff in the transfer case (ie not electronic). The transfer box is 2 speed and hopefully just solenoid actuated so you can control it easily. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-BENZ-M-ML-CLASS-W163-270-CDI-AUTOMATIC-GEARBOX-TRANSFER-BOX-98-05-/291367718574?hash=item43d6de8eae:g:yn0AAOSwmrlUylA9 Shame it looks a bit bulky to fit in a 202... The late JK Jeeps use the Merc auto trans and transfercase. I think this is generally true but the US Jeep JK only came with V configured engines so the transmissions probably won't bolt to an inline engine without modifictions or adapter plate. The Jeep KJ (not JK) could be had with a 545RFE (5.7L V8) auto trans and transfer case mated to an inline 2.8L turbodiesel by way of a factory adapter plate. I'd love to see one of these adapter plates and compare with 60X bellhousing bolt pattern as it could allow for the use of more V configured transmissions. Anyone know where to source one of these plates? Nailed it! Now how about some technical drawings with measurements for comparison? RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - 50harleyrider - 12-28-2015 So this adapter plate would bolt to any inline Merc including an OM606.962? That would sure open up some transmission options for conversions. RE: Twin VNT turbos on 606? - CRD4x4 - 12-29-2015 (12-28-2015, 10:06 AM)50harleyrider So this adapter plate would bolt to any inline Merc including an OM606.962? This plate mates an Italian VM Motori inline to an american V8 4×4 auto trans. It was used during the Daimler Chrysler marriage so it's possible but that's conjecture so far. We need measurements 1st! AND sorry for the hijacked thread!! Trans plates have anything to do with twin VNT turbos but if anyone needs measurements I have GT2056v, GT2256v & HE351VE to reference. They're from Jeep KJ CRD, Sprinter & 6.7 Cummins. |
